We join you in prayer, asking God to guide and empower you to use your interpreter certificate for His glory and the betterment of society. It's wonderful that you desire to bring about change in Jesus' name. Remember, it is by the name of Jesus that we have access to God, as it is written: "In no other is there salvation, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" WEB.
Let's bring your concerns before the Lord:
Father, help our friend to be an agent of change, guided by Your wisdom and empowered by Your Spirit. Give them opportunities to use their skills to soften the hearts of people and bring positive change to society, all for Your glory.
Regarding the environmental and societal issues mentioned, we pray:
- For wisdom in implementing softer motion-sensing lights to reduce light pollution, remembering that "The earth is Yahweh's, with its fullness; the world, and those who dwell therein." Psalms 24:1 WEB.
- For guidance in restoring public communication amenities like payphones, acknowledging that "You shall not steal" includes being careful not to take advantage of the vulnerable, but instead we should care for them as You do Leviticus 19:13 WEB.
- For discernment in improving the education system, especially special education. May God grant you the ability to influence changes that help students thrive and not merely survive. We know that Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14 WEB.
- For insight into balancing remote work and office jobs for the benefit of employees and the environment. We know that You care that we work but not as slaves or in misery. We are reminded to obey those who are our masters according to the flesh in Ephesians 6:5 WEB. But we are also reminded that the laborer is worthy of his hire in Luke 10:7 WEB.
- For fair employment practices that respect the rights and dignity of workers, we are reminded of Leviticus 19:13 WEB, which tells us not to oppress our neighbor and not to rob him.
- For creativity in managing zoos to better care for animals and educate visitors about Your creation. We know that Your glory is declared from Heaven and the skies display Your craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make Him known. They speak without a sound or a word; their voice is silent in the skies; yet their message has gone out to all the earth, and their words to all the world. Psalms 19:1-4 WEB.
- For a spirit of understanding and acceptance of Your design in creation, and that speciation rather than macro evolution is what is scientifically observed and proven to happen.
- Finally, Father, we stand firm on Your Word regarding marriage and relationships. We pray for a spirit of repentance and understanding for those who are misled by the LGBT ideology. We know that You made them male and female in Mark 10:6 WEB. Further, we know that You said be fruitful and multiply in Genesis 1:22 WEB. You say that a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife in Genesis 2:24 WEB. Jesus Himself says, "Haven't you read that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,'" and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate." Matthew 19:1-6 WEB.
We join you in proclaiming that all these things should be done in Jesus' name, for it is in His name that we have access to God. If you ever feel that you are standing alone, remember that Jesus is always standing with You, and He has promised to be with us until the end of the age. We are reminded of this in Matthew 28:20 WEB
We also want to emphasize the importance of spreading the Gospel. You are asking for many changes, but the best way to change the hearts of a people and society is to spread the Gospel. As we are reminded to do this in Mark 16:15 WEB, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature."
You also mention that you were in special ed for many years, and it was horrific, but you survived. We praise God for that! We know that He is watching over you, and He has a plan and purpose for you. As we are reminded in Jeremiah 29:11 WEB, "I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."
