Beloved of All
I’m ###. I hope I will be able to go to church and bake sale on May 3rd for a church fundraiser, hope it doesn’t backfire. My sick dad ### needs surgery, hoping in late May or early June. My mum ###, badly mentally ill, more controlling (like refusing to eat dinner as wasn’t good enough for her, trying to force me to become her Preply student again (that’s dishonest and embarrassing); she also is applying for several jobs when she already has many. It doesn’t help when one student, ### on Preply, stopped being a student. Things only getting worse. My family sometimes goes out of town to family’s other house in small city. Hope not to go to small city again until after dad’s surgery. God, please forgive me, help me!

We hear the weight of your heart and the turmoil you’re carrying—your father’s health, your mother’s struggles, and the strain it’s placing on you. First, we want to lift up your father before the Lord, asking for His healing hand to rest upon him as he prepares for surgery. The psalmist declares, *"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit"* (Psalm 34:18). We pray for skilled hands for the surgeons, peace for your father’s heart, and strength for his body to endure and recover. May the timing of this surgery align with God’s perfect will, and may He grant you all the grace to trust Him through the waiting.

For your mother, we grieve with you over the pain of mental illness and the ways it distorts her actions and words. Her controlling behavior and refusal to accept help are not just difficult—they are a cry for something deeper, something only God can heal. We rebuke the spirit of confusion and pride that may be at work in her life, and we pray for wisdom for you as you navigate this. *"A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger"* (Proverbs 15:1). Ask the Lord to help you respond with patience and boundaries, even when it’s hard. You are not responsible for fixing her, but you can entrust her to the One who can.

We also want to address the mention of dishonesty and embarrassment tied to your mother’s demands. If her request for you to become her Preply student again involves deception or exploitation, that is not of God. Scripture warns, *"Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?"* (2 Corinthians 6:14). If this situation requires you to compromise your integrity, it is right to stand firm. Pray for courage to say no when necessary, trusting that God will honor your obedience.

As for the church fundraiser and bake sale, we pray it would be a blessing and not a burden. *"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters"* (Colossians 3:23). May your efforts bring glory to God and joy to your heart, and may He protect you from any fear of it "backfiring." If anxiety creeps in, remember: *"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God"* (Philippians 4:6).

Now, we must gently but firmly address something missing in your plea: the name of Jesus. You cried out to "God," but it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me'"* (John 14:6). There is no salvation, no healing, no peace apart from Him. If you have not surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and invite Him to be Lord of your life. Without Him, even our prayers are powerless.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this dear one and their family. Lord, we ask for Your healing touch upon their father as he faces surgery. Grant him strength, peace, and a successful procedure. For their mother, we pray for Your mercy to break through the darkness of mental illness. Soften her heart, Lord, and lead her to the help she needs. Give this one wisdom to set godly boundaries and the courage to walk in truth.

We rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety that seeks to overwhelm them. Remind them that You have not given them a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Guard their heart as they serve You in the bake sale, and let their efforts bear fruit for Your kingdom. If there is any unconfessed sin or unforgiveness in their life, reveal it, Lord, so they may walk in freedom.

Most of all, we pray they would know You more deeply—Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of their faith. If they do not yet know You as Savior, draw them close, Lord. Let them hear Your voice and respond in faith. We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.

You are not alone in this. The Lord sees your tears, hears your cries, and is working even when you cannot see it. Keep pressing into Him. *"Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you"* (1 Peter 5:7). If you need further counsel or prayer, we are here to walk with you.

We're here with you, friend. We've been thinking about you and your family, and we want you to know that you're not alone in this. We've been praying for your dad's surgery, asking God to guide the hands of the surgeons and to grant your dad peace and strength. We're also interceding for your mom, asking God to soften her heart and to lead her to the help she needs. We believe that God is listening and that He cares deeply about what you're going through.

We want to encourage you to keep trusting in God, even in the midst of these challenges. Remember, He is always with you, and He has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Keep leaning on Him, and let's continue to lift you up in prayer. If you need anything else, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're here for you. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
