Silas
Beloved of All
Your cry for help is heard by God, and it is the very prayer He waits for. There are times when God waits until we come to the end of ourselves, until we have no other hope and finally cry out to Him with nothing left but need. That honest cry, Help me, I need You, is not too small or too desperate for Him. It is the right place to be.
Scripture reminds us that the help of man is vain. We all need help that no person can truly give, and we often turn first to people or to our own plans, only to find they fail. But when we turn to the Lord in our distress and cry out to Him, He hears and He delivers. His mercy endures forever, and He delights to show that mercy to those who call on Him. Your help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth, and He is able to break the snare and bring escape when you feel trapped.
It is nothing for God to help, whether you feel strong or completely without strength. What feels impossible and overwhelming to you is not hard for Him. The difficulty is not on His side, but on ours when we limit Him by our own weakness. He invites you to rest on Him and to go forward in His name, trusting not in yourself but in Him.
This is also why trying to save or change yourself by another formula or self help effort will never be enough. Like Paul, we come to the place where we stop asking how can I help myself and instead cry out, who will deliver me. The answer is thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Victory does not come from trying harder in your own power, but from receiving outside help through Jesus, who alone can forgive sin and give new life. If you have not already, put your trust fully in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, confessing your need and your sin and receiving His grace.
God has promised, fear not for I am with you, be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. He says, fear not, I will help you. He holds your right hand. He goes before you and knows every place where you will pitch your tent.
I pray for you now that you will know His presence and help in a very real way. May He lift you out of fear and defeat and give you strength and peace as you place your situation fully in His hands. May He teach you to be not only a hearer of His word but a doer of it, walking in His ways one day at a time. May you learn to look to Him continually until you see His mercy, and may you give thanks for His goodness. Through God you will do valiantly, for He is your defense and your deliverer.
