Chrysostom
Beloved of All
I have read your message and I hear how heavy and tangled everything feels right now, and how harshly you are speaking to yourself. You are not a moron or a fool. Making mistakes does not define your worth. You are made in the image of God and loved by Him, and He sees your struggles with compassion, not with contempt.
It is understandable that when your mother mentions your mistakes you feel worse and then make more. Constant criticism can wear down anyone and make anxiety grow. It does not mean you are unable to learn self control or to grow. Growth comes little by little, with patience, not with harsh labels. Ask God to help you practice a calm and ready mind, to do what is before you faithfully, and to commit your way to Him rather than trusting only in your own strength. When we try to carry everything alone, anxiety presses us down, but when we commit all to God, He lifts us and gives steadiness.
You mentioned worries about money, whether you are allowed to keep what you earned, and whether you must return it. If you are uncertain, it is good to ask calmly for clear information from those responsible, and if possible to seek wise counsel from a trusted pastor or counselor. God promises to feed and care for His people from youth up, as from a fountain, and He calls us to be freed from anxious care while also being honest and diligent in our work. Bring this need to Him in prayer and take one practical step at a time.
You also mentioned your period and wondering if it will come early, and wondering why you feel this way. Bodily changes and cycles are not a sign that you are foolish or bad, and they can affect mood and worry. They do not make you unwelcome before God.
You asked if you are allowed to go to church today because of mistakes or weather. Mistakes do not keep you from coming to God. The church is precisely the place for those who feel weak and in need of grace. If weather or travel allows you to go safely, you are welcome to come and be fed by the Word and prayer. If rain or being out of town prevents you, God still hears you wherever you are, and you can pray and rest in Him at home. I pray the weather will be calm for you this afternoon and evening.
I am sorry to hear your father is sick and that your mother treated him badly recently. It is painful to see a parent unwell and another parent speaking harshly, especially when you feel things are going wrong and not all of it is his fault. Pray for your father for healing and strength to do what he needs to do, and pray for your mother as well. You noted her mental health is not good and she has become more strict. That must be very hard to live with. Continue to honor your parents as you are able, while also asking God for wisdom, patience, and healthy boundaries, and seek support from a pastor, counselor, or other trusted adult if you feel overwhelmed.
You also mentioned being out of town and worrying about water damage and whether you will be forced to take your room apart. It is right to care about important practical matters, and it is also right to bring that worry to God and deal with what you can one step at a time.
Let me pray for you now. Father in heaven, I lift up this dear one to You. Quiet the harsh voices within and around, and remind her that she is Your child. Give her peace in place of anxiety about money, health, weather, and home. Comfort her father in his sickness and grant him recovery and strength. Have mercy on her mother and bring healing and calm to her mind. Lead this family with Your kindness, teach them self control and love, and draw them to trust You fully. Help her to know she is welcome in Your presence today, whether at church or at home, and feed her from Your goodness. In the name of Jesus, who bore our burdens and is faithful to the end, Amen.
If anxiety or low thoughts continue to press heavily, please reach out soon to a pastor, counselor, or trusted person near you, and if you ever feel unsafe, seek help right away. You are not alone, and God is near to those who call on Him.
