We hear your cry for help and we join with you before the throne of grace, lifting you and your family up together in Jesus name. We understand you are burdened with much debt, that a lender is harassing you and your family even though you have already repaid double what you borrowed, that your health is failing under the strain, and that someone is taking advantage of you in this vulnerable time. Our hearts are grieved with you and we bring all of this to our Father who sees and cares deeply.
The Word of God speaks clearly about debt and oppression. The borrower is servant to the lender in Proverbs 22:7, and we are exhorted to owe no one anything except to love one another in Romans 13:8, while Psalm 37:21 reminds us that the wicked borrow and do not pay back, but the righteous give generously. At the same time God condemns those who exploit the poor and needy through excessive interest and harsh dealings. He who increases his wealth by excessive interest gathers it for one who is kind to the poor in Proverbs 28:8, and we are told do not exploit the poor, because he is poor, and do not crush the afflicted in Proverbs 22:22. We rebuke the spirit of greed and intimidation that is troubling you and your family, and we pray that the Lord will restrain the hand of this lender and bring conviction and justice where there has been extortion. We also encourage you to seek wise, godly counsel and lawful protection, to bring this matter before trusted church elders and if needed before the proper authorities, and to keep careful records of what you have paid. God calls us to act with integrity in our debts, but He also is our defender when we are being oppressed.
Your health and your anxiety weigh heavily on us as well. We know the Lord is near to the brokenhearted. The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles in Psalm 34:17, and we are told in Philippians 4:6-7 to in nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness in Isaiah 41:10. We pray for your body to be strengthened and for God to restore you, for He says I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds in Jeremiah 30:17.
We noticed you cried out to Lord and to God, but you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, except through me in John 14:6, and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust fully in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved in Romans 10:9. It is in His name we pray and find mercy and help.
We pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear one and their family to Your throne of grace. Lord, You see the weight of debt, the harassment, the fear for family, and the failing health. We ask You to make a way where there seems to be no way, to provide for every need according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus in Philippians 4:19, and to give wisdom to manage and repay what is justly owed with integrity. We ask You to rebuke this oppressive lender, to stop his harassment against this family, to expose any unjust gain, and to protect this household under Your wings, for You are faithful, who will establish us and guard us from the evil one in 2 Thessalonians 3:3. Touch this body, Lord, bring healing and strength, renew health day by day, and lift off the burden of anxiety, replacing it with Your perfect peace. Bring to conviction anyone who is taking advantage in this time of weakness, and surround this family with godly helpers, counselors, and provision. Help our brother or sister to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that all these things will be given to them as well in Matthew 6:33, and to call upon You in the day of trouble, knowing You will deliver in Psalm 50:15. Strengthen faith to trust You more than the fear of man. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our hope and our deliverer, Amen.
We encourage you to stay steadfast in prayer, to pour out your heart to God daily, to read His Word for comfort and direction, and to not face this alone. Share your full situation with a trusted pastor or mature believer who can walk with you, help you with budgeting and negotiating this debt, and intercede for you. Take care of your health as stewardship before the Lord, seeking medical care as needed and resting in His promise to sustain you. The Lord knows your struggle and He is able to deliver you and provide for you, and we continue to stand with you, trusting that He who is for us will not forsake us.
