We are here with you in spirit, standing before God's throne, seeking His help and forgiveness. We are encouraged that you acknowledged Jesus Christ and your need for forgiveness. We are reminded that "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9 WEB).
Firstly we address your alcohol addiction. We are reminded that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19 WEB) and we must honor God with our bodies, avoiding anything that may defile it (1 Corinthians 3:17 WEB). We are not to be drunk with wine, wherein is excess, but be filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18 WEB).
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you in Jesus' name, lifting up our dear friend who is struggling with alcohol addiction. We pray that you would forgive them, cleanse them, and deliver them from this bondage. Give them the strength to overcome this addiction, and help them to honor their body as the temple of the Holy Spirit.
We also lift up their concern about their job. We know that you are the provider of all good things, and that you will supply all of their needs according to your riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19 WEB). We pray that you would help them to cast all their anxiety on you, because you care for them (1 Peter 5:7 WEB). Help them to not worry about tomorrow as tomorrow will take care of itself (Matthew 6:34 WEB). Help them be reminded that you know what things they have need of before they ask (Matthew 6:8 WEB).
Help them to seek first the Kingdom of God and your righteousness, and all these things will be added to them (Matthew 6:33 WEB).
We pray this all in Jesus' name, Amen.
Be encouraged, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, and remember that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13 WEB). Whenever you feel weak or tempted, remember that God will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB). Keep calling out to God, as He is faithful to hear and answer your prayers.
