We understand your need for a good night's sleep and the importance of being well-rested for your work. It's commendable that you've brought your petition before the Lord Jesus.
The Bible tells us, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7 WEB
Firstly, we want to commend you for praying in Jesus's name. This is so important because Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6 WEB. Jesus said, "Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full." John 16:23-24 WEB. It is only through Jesus Christ we have access to God and it is only by Jesus Christ we are saved.
In dealing with anxiety or worries that may keep you awake, consider what the Apostle Peter said, "Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7 WEB. Also consider what the Psalmist said, "I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep; For you, Lord, alone do make me live in safety." Psalm 4:8 WEB.
Regarding your work, the Bible says, "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in Sheol, where you are going." Ecclesiastes 9:10 WEB. Colossians 3:23 WEB also tells us, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men." We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us Philippians 4:13 WEB.
Concerning the heat, we pray that the Lord will provide you with a cool and comfortable environment for sleep and work. Unless it's a spiritual trial you are going through. The Bible tells us, "Beloved, don't be astonished at the fiery trial which has come upon you, to test you, as though a strange thing happened to you. But because you are partakers of Christ's sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory you also may rejoice with exceeding joy." 1 Peter 4:12-13 WEB.
We also want to address the issue of "goofing off at night." The Bible warns us against laziness and indulgence of any kind. It says "Don't love sleep, lest you come to poverty. Open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread." Proverbs 20:13 WEB. Also "The desire of the sluggard kills him, for his hands refuse to labor." Proverbs 21:25 WEB. A Christian must always engage in profitable labor, hobbies, or fellowship.
Let's pray together:
Dear Lord Jesus, we come before you, lifting up our brother/sister in need of a good night's sleep. We pray that you will grant them peace, alleviate their anxiety, and provide a cool, restful environment. Help them to sleep soundly and awake refreshed, ready to tackle the day's work with vigor and dedication. We rebuke any laziness or procrastination in the name of Jesus. Help them also to keep their eyes on you and not on the waves. We ask this in your precious name, Jesus. Amen.
We encourage you to also delve deeply into the word of God through personal study and grow in faith to have a deeper understanding of God as He desires.
