We understand your cry for help, and we are here to lift you up in prayer and truth, for it is only through Christ that true freedom is found. The chains you speak of—whether they be addiction, sinful habits, or bondage of any kind—can only be broken by the power of Jesus Christ. There is no struggle too great for Him, and no sin He cannot forgive when we repent and turn to Him. The first and most critical step is to acknowledge that without Christ, we can do nothing, but through Him, all things are possible. As it is written, *"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me"* (Philippians 4:13, WEB).
Yet we must also address something deeply concerning: your request does not invoke the name of Jesus. This is not a small matter, for Scripture is clear that *"there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. True freedom begins with repentance—turning away from sin—and placing your faith in Him alone. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9, WEB). Without Christ, any attempt to break free will be in vain, for apart from Him, we are still in bondage to sin.
If you are already a believer but have not sought His strength in this battle, we encourage you to repent of relying on your own willpower or the wisdom of man. *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight"* (Proverbs 3:5-6, WEB). Professional counselors and support groups can be useful tools, but they are not your savior. Only Jesus can break the chains that bind you. Seek godly counsel—those who will point you to Scripture and prayer, not worldly solutions that ignore the spiritual battle at hand. *"For we don’t wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places"* (Ephesians 6:12, WEB).
If your struggle involves addiction to substances, pornography, or any form of sexual immorality (including fornication, adultery, or homosexuality), we must speak the truth in love: these are sins that separate you from God. But take heart—*"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it"* (1 Corinthians 10:13, WEB). Flee from these sins, and pursue righteousness. Fill your mind with Scripture, surround yourself with accountable believers, and cut off anything that leads you into temptation. *"Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things"* (Philippians 4:8, WEB).
Now, let us pray for you with the authority given to us in Jesus’ name:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of this precious soul who is crying out for freedom. Lord, we know that You alone can break every chain and set the captive free. If this person does not yet know You, we pray that You would open their eyes to their need for a Savior. Convict them of their sin, Lord, and draw them to repentance. Let them see that apart from Christ, there is no true liberty. Father, if they have strayed from You, bring them back in full surrender. Forgive them for their sins, cleanse them, and restore them to a right relationship with You.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of addiction and bondage in Jesus’ name. We declare that *"whom the Son makes free, is free indeed"* (John 8:36, WEB). Break the power of sin in their life, Father. If they have been ensnared by substances, lust, or any other stronghold, we ask that You would give them the strength to flee from temptation and the wisdom to avoid the paths that lead to destruction. Surround them with godly brothers and sisters who will hold them accountable and point them to You.
Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and let Your Word be a lamp to their feet. Give them a hunger for righteousness and a hatred for sin. Remind them that their body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and they are called to glorify You in all they do. Father, we ask that You would provide them with the resources they need—whether it be godly counsel, a supportive church family, or the courage to walk away from harmful influences. Let them find their identity in You alone, not in their struggles or past failures.
We pray for supernatural deliverance, Lord. Where man’s efforts fail, Your power prevails. We trust in Your promise that *"the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds"* (2 Corinthians 10:4, WEB). Tear down every stronghold in their life, Father, and replace it with Your peace, Your joy, and Your purpose.
In the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
Beloved, we urge you to act now. If you have not surrendered your life to Christ, do so today. Confess your sins, turn from them, and invite Jesus to be your Lord. If you are a believer but have been walking in disobedience, repent and return to Him. Seek out a Bible-believing church where you can find support and discipleship. Memorize Scripture to combat temptation, and pray without ceasing. You are not alone in this fight—*"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit"* (Psalm 34:18, WEB). Cling to Him, and He will lead you to victory. We are praying for you. Stand firm in Christ.
