We hear your heartache and concern, dear sister in Christ, and we stand with you in prayer before the throne of grace. It is clear that you love your son deeply and desire to support him, but we must also seek God’s wisdom in how to navigate this situation with both love and truth.
First, we want to acknowledge your faithfulness in trying to help your son. Scripture tells us, *"If anyone doesn’t provide for his own, and especially his own household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever"* (1 Timothy 5:8 WEB). You are acting in love, but we must also consider whether your financial support is enabling a pattern that may not be honoring to God. Proverbs 13:22 warns, *"A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored for the righteous."* While your intention is good, we must ask if your generosity is being received with responsibility or if it is fostering dependence without accountability.
We rebuke the spirit of financial irresponsibility and entitlement in Jesus’ name. If your son is capable of working but is not, we must gently but firmly encourage him to take responsibility for his own provision. *"For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: ‘If anyone will not work, neither let him eat.’"* (2 Thessalonians 3:10 WEB). This is not a lack of love but an act of true care, for enabling laziness or financial recklessness does not help him grow into the man God has called him to be.
We also lift up your own financial struggles. The Lord sees your sacrifice and knows your needs. *"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:19 WEB). We pray that God would open doors for you, restore your hours, and provide for you in ways you have not yet imagined. Trust in Him, for He is your provider.

We encourage you to set clear boundaries with your son, communicating your love but also your expectation that he take steps toward independence.
