Beloved of All
I had problems with pornography, masturbation, flirting (with the opposite sex) and sexual sins... Now there is a great improvement! Let us give all the glory and thanks for this to the Lord Jesus Christ! But there is still a great need for more improvement (lasting and true) for the glory of God! Let us pray for this...Please pray that God will help me and guide me to do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever from my life and heart, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Let us pray that God will also work, renew my mind, make me very wise, so that these sins will forever be far from me, in the Name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God will show me mercy, speak to me, give me understanding and deliverance. I really prayed and cried a lot...😭

We rejoice with you and give all the glory and thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for the great improvement He has already worked in your life, and we thank you for sharing your tears and your honest cries before Him. The Lord hears the broken and contrite heart and He is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you. Philippians 1:6 says He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ, and 1 John 1:9 assures us if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

We want to speak clearly and lovingly about these sins because God calls us to holiness for His glory. Pornography, masturbation, flirting with the opposite sex outside of godly courtship, and all sexual sins are forms of sexual immorality which Scripture calls fornication. They are not small struggles but sin against God and against your own body which is a temple of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 6:18 says Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Matthew 5:28 teaches that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. And 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 says for this is the will of God, your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to control his own body in sanctification and honor. Flirting that stirs lust or seeks emotional or sexual attention outside of a purposeful courtship toward marriage with a fellow believer does not honor God, and sexual intimacy is reserved by God for the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman.

We encourage you that lasting and true deliverance comes not only by trying harder but by being transformed. Romans 12:2 says Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. Psalm 119:9 asks How can a young man keep his way pure, By keeping it according to your word. God promises wisdom and a way of escape when temptation comes. 1 Corinthians 10:13 says God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. James 4:7 says Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. And 2 Corinthians 10:5 calls us to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

We want to walk with you in practical steps toward that lasting freedom as God renews your mind and makes you very wise. We encourage you to make a covenant with your eyes as Job did in Job 31:1, to set no worthless thing before your eyes as in Psalm 101:3, to remove every source and access to pornography, to flee from situations and conversations that lead to flirting or lust, to walk by the Spirit according to Galatians 5:16, and to bring your struggle into the light with a mature, godly man of faith who can hold you accountable and pray with you regularly. Guard your heart with diligence as Proverbs 4:23 teaches, fill your mind daily with Scripture, and pursue purity not only by avoiding sin but by pursuing Christ and His purposes for you, including if God wills, a godly marriage that honors Him.

We now join our faith with yours and pray together.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ, and we thank You for the mercy You have already shown to our dear brother, for hearing his prayers and his cries and for bringing great improvement. We ask You to continue Your deep work in his heart and mind. Lord, do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever from his life and heart. Renew his mind, wash him with Your Word, make him very wise and discerning to recognize and flee temptation at its first appearance. Speak to him, give him understanding, show him Your mercy and grant him full deliverance. Create in him a clean heart, O God, as Psalm 51:10 prays, and renew a right spirit within him. Teach him to take every thought captive to Christ, to walk in the Spirit and not fulfill the lust of the flesh, and to live in sanctification and honor for Your glory. Strengthen him when he is weak, provide the way of escape in every temptation, surround him with godly counsel and accountability, and let his life bear lasting fruit of purity and holiness that points others to You. We ask that You would guide him into Your perfect will, whether in singleness with undivided devotion to You or in a godly courtship leading to marriage with a Christian believer, and that all he does would be for Your glory. We pray all this in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We were moved reading how earnestly you have been praying and crying out to the Lord, and we rejoice with you that you are already seeing real change. Giving Him glory for that progress is exactly right, and we thank Him with you.

We hear your longing for this to be lasting and deep, not just behavior change but a renewed mind and heart. That kind of transformation is usually not a single moment but a steady walk, and God often uses both His grace and practical means to keep us steady.

One thing that has helped many who have struggled in this same area is not walking alone. Having one trusted, mature believer of the same sex who knows your story and can ask you honest questions each week, and whom you can call quickly when temptation or old patterns of fantasy and flirting surface, brings light into places that grow quickly in isolation. Many also find strength in a small, confidential support group through a local church where accountability and prayer are regular.

We also encourage you to keep bringing everything honestly to the Lord, asking Him for wisdom to recognize triggers and for help to turn quickly toward what is good.

Father, we thank You for the work You have already begun in our brother. We ask for Your mercy and gentle guidance each day, renew his mind, guard his heart, and give him wise companions for the road. Keep him close to Jesus and give him lasting freedom for Your glory. In Jesus name, Amen.

We rejoice with you and give all glory and thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for the great improvement already wrought in you, for every step away from sin is of His free grace only. You have cried and prayed much, and the Lord has heard, for He does not shut His ear to the broken heart that seeks deliverance, and what He has begun He is able to complete.

Yet you do well to confess that there remains great need for a lasting and true work, for purity is one of the two great garments of Christianity, and without holiness no man shall see the Lord. The Scripture warns us of the pedigree of sin, that lust when it has conceived brings forth sin, and sin when it is finished brings forth death. Any sin whatever it is, if we cling to it and love it, will bring forth death. To escape the corruption that is in the world through lust we must be partakers of the Divine Nature, born anew by regeneration and lifted up into familiarity with God. It is not enough to be delivered from the guilt of sin, we must be delivered also from the power of sin, and that deliverance is as much the work of God as the first.

Know this, that deliverance from sin is solely by the power of God. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. He has not only invented a way of deliverance, He has found a ransom. The King's own Son has borne the penalty of all our iniquities, and when God Himself proclaims, I have found a ransom, then is the deliverance certain, indeed it is already accomplished by the blood of the Lamb. He brought Israel forth when the lamb was slain, and He brings His people forth still, and He makes their deliverance effectual. If you feel you can do nothing and that you dare not take an atom of the honor to yourself, you are in the right place to receive His mercy.

For this reason we must look to our heavenly Father altogether and alone both for justification and for sanctification. The work of renewal is a stern work. It is called in Scripture conversion, and the same power is required in the renewal of a soul as was put forth in raising Jesus Christ from the dead. All created things need renewal, for nothing that God has made is self existent, and how much more does the soul need the daily renewing of the Holy Ghost. This is the renewal of a covenant, as Jonathan and David renewed theirs, and it is wrought by the Spirit through the Word, through watchfulness, through prayer, and through fleeing those occasions which feed lust, whether it be the eye that beholds vanity, the idle hour, or the flattering tongue.

Let us pray together for you, that the Lord will show you mercy and speak to you and give you understanding. We ask the Lord to work in you, to renew your mind, to make you very wise, so that these sins will be forever far from you. May He keep you unspotted from the world and establish you in that purity which He loves, and make your heart to hate the very garment spotted by the flesh. May He teach you to walk in the way of holiness, to keep your body and spirit chaste, as becomes those who are bought with a price, and to reserve that which belongs to the lifelong covenant of marriage alone.

Take comfort that the Lord often whispers to the heart of His children in trial and assures them that they shall not be crushed. He chastens sorely, but He does not give over unto death. And when He has delivered you, your conduct shall be to live and to declare the works of the Lord. One who has been brought up from the pit has more to sing of than one who has only walked upon the beach. May your deliverance be attended with enrichment, as He brought forth His people with silver and gold, so may He enrich you with deeper knowledge of Christ, with peace within your borders, and with a song of deliverance that others in like trouble may hear for their comfort.

Persevere in prayer, abide in the Word, and rest your soul upon Christ alone. He who has begun a good work will perform it.
