I had problems with pornography, masturbation, flirting (with the opposite sex) and sexual sins... Now there is a great improvement! Let us give all the glory and thanks for this to the Lord Jesus Christ! But there is still a great need for more improvement (lasting and true) for the glory of God! Let us pray for this...Please pray that God will help me and guide me to do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever from my life and heart, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Let us pray that God will also work, renew my mind, make me very wise, so that these sins will forever be far from me, in the Name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God will show me mercy, speak to me, give me understanding and deliverance. I really prayed and cried a lot...

We rejoice with you and give all the glory and thanks to the Lord Jesus Christ for the great improvement He has already worked in your life, for it is He who gives victory and it is His grace that has brought you this far. We have heard your crying and your earnest prayers and we join with you now, for God does not despise a broken and contrite heart and He collects our tears and hears our cries.

We also speak the truth in love about these sins, because they are serious before a holy God. Pornography, masturbation, flirting with the opposite sex outside of godly courtship, and all sexual sin is sexual immorality which Scripture calls us to flee. Jesus said that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart in Matthew 5:28, and we are commanded to flee sexual immorality in 1 Corinthians 6:18. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Flirting and entertaining lustful thoughts make provision for the flesh and open a door to fornication, which is any sexual intimacy outside the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman. God designed sexual intimacy to be holy and pure within marriage alone, and any use of it outside marriage does not bring glory to Him. We must also flee youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace in 2 Timothy 2:22, and make no provision for the flesh in Romans 13:14.

We thank God that you desire lasting and true deliverance and not just temporary relief, and that you want this for the glory of God. Lasting change comes not by willpower alone but by being transformed by the renewing of your mind in Romans 12:2 so that you may prove what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, and by walking by the Spirit so you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh in Galatians 5:16. God has promised that no temptation has taken you except what is common to man, and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it in 1 Corinthians 10:13. We are to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ in 2 Corinthians 10:5 and to set our minds on things that are pure and holy.

We encourage you to continue in daily repentance and confession, for if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness in 1 John 1:9. We encourage you to remove every source and access to pornography completely, to cut off the way of temptation radically as Jesus taught, to guard your eyes and make a covenant with your eyes as Job did in Job 31:1, to avoid being alone in idle time with internet access, to bring your struggle into the light with a mature, godly, same-sex believer for weekly accountability, to fill your mind daily with Scripture and prayer, and to pursue fellowship and service so your mind and heart are occupied with Christ. If you lack wisdom for how to walk this out, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him in James 1:5.

We pray together with you now in the Name of Jesus Christ. Father in heaven, we give You glory and thanks for the work You have already begun in our brother, for delivering him in part and for hearing his many prayers and tears. We ask for Your mercy and for lasting and true deliverance. Create in him a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within him in Psalm 51:10. Renew his mind, make him very wise in Your Word, and teach him to discern and to hate every form of sexual immorality. Show him mercy, speak to him clearly, give him understanding and a way of escape in every temptation, and empower him by Your Holy Spirit to flee lust and to walk in purity. Help him and guide him to do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever from his life and heart, to make no provision for the flesh, and to keep these sins forever far from him. Let his life now bring glory to You and prepare him, if it is Your will, for a godly marriage that honors You, where intimacy is kept holy within that covenant. We ask that You will complete the good work You have begun and keep him faithful until the end. In the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord we pray, amen.

He sees your tears and your longing to walk closely with Him, and He is patient as He continues to shape you day by day.

Growth in this area is often steady rather than instant, learned in daily choices and with support. If you do not already have it, one step that helps many is to not walk alone. We encourage you to invite one trusted, mature believer or pastor to meet with you regularly for honest accountability and prayer, someone who can encourage you, ask caring questions, and help you think through practical boundaries around your phone, internet use, and situations where flirting becomes a temptation.

Father, thank You for the work You have already done in our brother's life and for his tender heart toward You. We ask for Your mercy and guidance, for a renewed mind and wise choices, and for strength to walk in purity for Your glory. There is great cause to give thanks unto the Lord with you, for you have rightly given all glory to the Lord Jesus Christ for the improvement already wrought. It is the Lord who has begun this good work, and it is He alone who must complete it, for deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. Where we look for justification, there must we also look for sanctification, and that sanctification must come from a heavenly source.

You have cried and prayed much, and be assured the ear of God is not shut against such cries. When a child of God in deep distress believes in his Father and steadily looks to Him for deliverance, the Lord hears. Yet remember what the Scripture teaches, that deliverance from sin is solely by the power of God. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. He becomes possessed of a higher nature which is born in him by regeneration and which lifts him up into familiarity with God, so that he becomes a partaker of the Divine Nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

This is the reason you must continue to look to Christ and not to your own resolutions. Lust, when it has conceived, brings forth sin, and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death. Any sin, whatever it is, if we cling to it and love it, will bring forth death. Rest assured of that. Purity and charity are the two great garments of Christianity, and charity without purity will be of no use. We must walk in the way of holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. The sins you name, pornography, uncleanness in private, and flirting and sexual sin with the opposite sex, are corruptions that war against the soul. Sex and all that belongs to it is the gift of God to be guarded within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and outside of that covenant we are called to flee these things and to keep ourselves pure.

Therefore we will pray with you and for you as you have asked.

We pray that God will help you and guide you to do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever from your life and heart, in the Name of Jesus Christ. That He will work in you according to His good pleasure, renew your mind, and make you very wise, so that you may discern and hate the very appearance of evil and that these sins will forever be far from you. We pray that He will show you mercy, speak to you by His Word and Spirit, give you understanding, and grant you full deliverance.

Take comfort in this, that God has not only invented a way of deliverance, but He has found a ransom. The King's own Son has borne the penalty of all our iniquities. When God Himself proclaims concerning him who was going down to the pit, I have found a ransom, then is the deliverance certain, indeed it is already accomplished at Calvary. Your deliverance came when the Lamb was slain. He brought His people forth not by their own strength, but by His mighty hand, and He brings them forth also with enrichment, giving them a new heart and a new mind.

So look to the Lord Jesus Christ for all things. He is not a distant memory, but alive, your familiar Friend. Flee the occasions of sin, keep your eyes from beholding vanity, guard your heart with the Word of God, and walk in the light. If you fall, confess at once and look again to the blood that cleanses. If you stand, give God the glory and declare the works of the Lord, for after trouble and deliverance the believer says, I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.

May the Lord keep you, establish you, and make your deliverance lasting and true, for His own glory.

We thank God with you for the improvement He has already given, and we give all glory to the Lord Jesus Christ for it. Your tears and prayers have not been in vain, for God looks to him who is meek and contrite and trembles at His word, and He is merciful to those who turn from sin and seek to be purified and converted.

We will pray for you as you have asked. We pray that God will help you and guide you to do what is needed to put these sins away from your life and heart forever in the name of Jesus Christ. We pray that He will renew your mind, make you wise with the wisdom that comes from above, keep you far from these sins, show you mercy, give you understanding, and grant you full and lasting deliverance.

Take courage that lasting change is possible, for many who once lived in sexual sin entered the kingdom not by remaining as they were, but by obeying and believing and being washed and changed. God can make men who were once bound by lust to live as angels, but this requires a firm and ongoing turning away.

Therefore join prayer with practice. As you have been taught, divide virtue and learn it step by step. First guard against what feeds lust. Lust and greed spring from the same passion, and filthy talk and crude jesting are the vehicles that carry lust forward. Put those away, guard your eyes from pornography, guard your tongue from flirting and suggestive speech, and flee every occasion that stirs desire. Then practice the opposite virtues in order, continence, temperance, control of the body, righteousness, humility and a gentle and contrite heart, writing them upon your soul day by day. Be an example in word, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

We pray now: Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son through whom alone is salvation, have mercy on Your servant who cries out to You. Forgive what is past, cleanse his heart, renew his mind, and make him wise to hate sin and love purity. Deliver him completely from pornography, masturbation, flirting and all sexual sin. Teach him to walk in self control and true purity, to keep his body and mind for Your glory, and to reserve the gift of sex for the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman as You have ordained. Keep him when he is tempted, lift him when he stumbles, and establish him in lasting freedom, for Your glory. Amen.

Continue to seek Him daily in Scripture and prayer, stay in fellowship where you can be honest and accountable, and do not grow weary. God who began this good work in you is able to complete it.
