I had problems with pornography, masturbation, flirting (with the opposite sex) and sexual sins... Now there is a great improvement! Let us give all the glory and thanks for this to the Lord Jesus Christ! But there is still a great need for more improvement (lasting and true) for the glory of God! Let us pray for this...Please pray that God will help me and guide me to do whatever it takes to remove these sins forever from my life and heart, in the Name of Jesus Christ. Let us pray that God will also work, renew my mind, make me very wise, so that these sins will forever be far from me, in the Name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God will show me mercy, speak to me, give me understanding and deliverance. I really prayed and cried a lot...

We were encouraged to read your update and we thank God with you for the real improvement you are seeing. It is good to hear you giving Him the glory for it, and we also hear how earnestly you have been praying and weeping for lasting freedom. That hunger for a clean heart and a renewed mind matters to God.

What you describe is familiar to many believers. Often the Lord brings change not in one sudden event but through a steady process where we learn to walk out day by day what He is doing inside us. There can be loops and tests along the way, and that does not mean you are back at the start. It is part of how fruit grows over time as we keep turning to Him.

One practical step that helps many people in this same struggle is steady accountability. It might help to ask one trusted, mature Christian man or a pastor you respect to be a regular check-in person, or to join a small support group where you can be honest weekly about temptations, victories, and thought patterns. Having another person who knows your story and prays with you makes it harder to drift back into old habits alone and gives you someone to lean on when the pull is strong.

Father, we thank You for the work You have already done in our brother's life and for his desire to honor You. We ask for Your mercy and gentle guidance each day, for wisdom to recognize what leads him toward temptation and strength to turn away. Renew his mind and guard his heart, and surround him with trustworthy help and encouragement. Keep him close to You as he keeps seeking You. In Jesus' name, amen.

We give thanks with you and for you, that the Lord Jesus Christ has already wrought a great improvement in your life, and to Him be all the glory. That you hate these sins and cry out against them is itself a token of grace, for the heart that was once content in corruption now loathes it and longs for purity. Hold fast to this, that He who has begun a good work will perfect it.

You do well to ask for lasting and true deliverance, for purity and charity are the two great garments of Christianity, and charity without purity will be of no use, as without holiness no man shall see the Lord. You have named the enemies rightly, for lust when it has conceived brings forth sin, and sin when it is finished brings forth death. That is the pedigree of sin, it is born of lust and it brings forth dust. Any sin, whatever it is, if we cling to it and love it, will bring forth death, rest assured of that. And as you have proved, to drink of the cup of lust is to drink a poison that makes the very bones to rot, till the soul wishes it had never been ensnared.

Yet take comfort, for deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. Where we look for justification, there must we also look for sanctification. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. He becomes possessed of a higher nature who is born again by regeneration, and is made a partaker of the Divine Nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. Your deliverance, if it come at all, must come solely by the power of God. He must bring you forth, as He brought Israel forth when the lamb was slain.

And blessed be His name, God has not only invented a way of deliverance, but He has found a ransom. The prisoner is ready to be executed, but there comes to him undeserved deliverance from all punishment, for the King's own Son has borne the penalty of all his iniquities. When God Himself proclaims concerning him who is going down to the pit, I have found a ransom, then is the deliverance certain, indeed it is already accomplished in Christ. Rest your soul upon Him, and God will yet come to your deliverance.

Therefore we will pray for you as you have desired, and we join our petitions to your tears.

We pray that the Lord in mercy will renew your mind and make you very wise, that you may discern and hate every approach of evil, and that these sins will be put far from you and kept far from you. We pray that He will show you mercy, speak to your heart by His Spirit and by His Word, give you understanding to walk in the way of holiness, and grant you full deliverance from the power of darkness. We pray that He will guide you to do whatever it takes, in His strength, to cut off that which causes you to stumble, to keep your body and spirit pure as befits one who is the temple of the Holy Ghost, reserving that which belongs to the lifelong covenant of marriage alone for its holy purpose.

Do not think your cries are unheard. When a child of God in deep distress believes in his Father and steadily looks to Him for deliverance, those eyes have mighty power with God. He delights to hear the prayer that overcomes Him by clinging to Christ His Son, who is alive and is our familiar Friend.

Persevere in prayer, in the Word, and in watchfulness. Flee those places and images and flatteries that feed temptation, and fill the mind with Christ. If you fall, confess at once and return to the fountain opened for sin. And when the Lord has chastened you sorely and then delivered you, you shall not die but live, and declare the works of the Lord. Let your gratitude be deeper and your song more jubilant, for you have been delivered from worse enemies than Pharaoh, and saved by a greater salvation.

May the Lord keep you, cleanse you, and establish you in lasting purity, for His own glory, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

I give thanks with you to our Lord Jesus Christ for the improvement He has already worked in you, and I have heard the cry of your prayers and tears. To desire to be cleansed, to grieve over sin and to ask for lasting deliverance, is itself a sign that God is at work in your heart, for He looks to him who is humble and contrite and trembles at His word.

Do not grow weary, even though you have prayed and wept much. God is merciful and He hears, and He does not only forgive but also renews the mind and makes wise those who seek Him. What you ask is according to His will, that you should be pure and whole, for He calls us to be examples in purity, in self control and in a blameless life, that we might be like angels rather than being driven like horses mad with lust.

Therefore take courage and continue in the path you have begun, learning virtue step by step as children learn letters. First guard against one thing, then the next. Turn away from every occasion and vehicle of lust, from pornography, from flirting, from filthy talking and jesting, from idleness and gluttony, which feed this passion. Practice instead continence, temperance, prayer, fasting, and attention to Scripture, and write these virtues upon your soul one after another. In this way, joined together, they become a living rule within you. Keep your eyes and your heart with diligence, seek fellowship and accountability with faithful believers, and flee quickly from every temptation rather than trusting in your own strength.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we give You glory and thanks for the deliverance You have already granted to Your servant. We ask for Your mercy. Wash him fully, renew his mind, and make him wise with the wisdom that comes from above. Teach him to hate sin and to love purity, and work in him a lasting and true transformation for Your glory. Remove these sins far from his life and heart, keep him from returning to them, and speak to him, give him understanding and strength to do whatever is necessary to walk in holiness. Guard his thoughts, his eyes and his words, fill him with Your Holy Spirit, and lead him in the way of continence and righteousness, that he may live as a pure offering to You.
