Help for a married disabled couple

We have heard your cry and we lift you both up before the Lord together, asking for His mercy and provision in this very difficult season of homelessness. We are moved with compassion for you as a married couple facing disability and housing insecurity, and we thank God that you have remained together in your marriage covenant, which He honors and calls holy. Marriage between a man and a woman is a picture of Christ and His church, and we praise God that you are walking through this trial together as husband and wife.

The Lord sees your need and He is not distant from your suffering. He is close to the brokenhearted and He cares deeply for those who feel without shelter or security. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1. He sets the lonely in families, He brings out the prisoners with singing Psalm 68:6. And we know He even sees and cares for the animals He has entrusted to us, for the righteous cares for the needs of his animal Proverbs 12:10, and we pray He will provide a place where your little dog can remain safely with you.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and can come boldly to His throne of grace. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. It is in His name we pray and in His name our needs are met.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear married couple to Your throne of grace. You know their names, You know their disabilities and their struggles, You know their homelessness and their desire for a safe, cheap and reasonable place to rent where they can live with dignity and keep their emotional support dog with them. Lord we ask You to open doors that no man can shut, to lead them to landlords and housing with favor and affordability, to provide resources through Your church and community, and to shelter them under Your wings. We ask that You will supply every need of theirs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19. Help them to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness, trusting that all these things will be given to them as well Matthew 6:33. Give them strength for each day, peace that surpasses understanding, and assurance that You will never leave them nor forsake them Hebrews 13:5. Comfort them as You are close to the brokenhearted Psalm 34:18, and work all things together for good for those who love You Romans 8:28. In Jesus name we ask for provision, protection, and a home established in Your love, amen.

We encourage you both to keep trusting the Lord and to make your needs known to local Bible believing churches, pastors, and Christian ministries who may be able to help with housing resources, disability assistance, and practical support. Continue to pray together as husband and wife, seek the Lord daily in His Word, and cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7. The Lord is faithful and He hears the prayers of His people, and we will continue to pray that He provides a reasonable and safe rental for you very soon and restores stability and peace to your household.

We were glad you reached out and let us know what you and your spouse are facing. Being without a stable place to live while navigating disabilities and trying to care for each other and your little dog is a heavy burden, and we want you to know we are praying for you both.

We know how hard it can be to find something affordable that will also welcome your emotional support dog. It can feel overwhelming to make calls when you are already exhausted, but reaching out for local, in person help can often open doors more quickly than searching alone.

If you have not already, one practical place to start is dialing 211 or contacting your county social services or housing authority. They often keep updated lists of low income and pet friendly rentals, emergency shelter, and transitional housing, and can connect you with disability services in your area. A local church office or Christian ministry near you may also know of landlords or benevolence funds that are not listed online, and they can sometimes advocate for you.

Please keep your important papers, IDs, and any medical documentation together in one place so they are ready when an opening comes.

Father, we lift this husband and wife to You and ask for Your provision and protection over them. Provide a safe, affordable place where they can stay together with their dog, give them favor with those who can help, and give them strength and peace for each day. Guide their steps and surround them with caring people. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your cry in this season of homelessness and need has been heard, and we have carried you both before the throne of grace. To be without a settled habitation is a sore trial, and when it is joined with bodily infirmity it must press very heavily upon the spirit. Yet our God is the God of the homeless and the helper of the afflicted, for it is written, The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble, and again, My Father, it is He that provideth for the sparrow and heareth the young ravens when they cry.

We have besought the Lord that He would in His providence open a door for you, a quiet and reasonable habitation where you may dwell together in peace and be sheltered from the storm, and where your little dog which He has given for your comfort may remain with you. We have asked that He would guide you to those who have means and hearts to help, and would incline the hearts of landlords and stewards toward mercy, and that He would supply what is needed according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Take courage and cast your burden upon the Lord, for He careth for you. He who led Israel through the wilderness and gave them rest, He who had not where to lay His head that you might have a home in heaven, will not forget you now. Seek Him first, and trust Him day by day for daily bread and daily shelter.

We would encourage you, if you are able, to make your need known to a faithful local church and to those Christian agencies of mercy near you who labour to house the poor, for the Lord often provides through the hands of His people. Let not shame keep you from asking, and let not weariness keep you from knocking, for every good gift cometh from the Father of lights.

We pray now for you both.

O gracious Father, look in mercy upon this married couple in their affliction and poverty. Thou knowest their frame and their infirmities, Thou seest their homelessness and their search for a dwelling. Provide for them, we beseech Thee, a safe and affordable place to rent, where they may live with decency and quietness and keep the vows they have made before Thee. Give them favour in the eyes of those who have houses to let, keep them in health, guard them from harm as they wait, and let their little household know Thy preserving care. Above all, give them contentment in Christ, and a settled home in Thy love, till Thou bringest them to that city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We will continue to remember you in prayer, asking the Lord to make His presence your shelter until He provides walls to cover you.
