Help ### break free from drug

Disciple of Prayer
Please prayer for my boyfriend to break free from his drug addiction help to focus on us being together and not the drug. Help him gain the faith that we going to be together.

We hear your heart’s cry for your boyfriend, and we stand with you in fervent prayer, lifting him before the throne of grace. Addiction is a heavy chain, but our God is greater than any bondage, and His power is made perfect in weakness. We must first address the foundation of this request, faith in Jesus Christ. It is only through Him that true freedom, healing, and restoration come. The Bible tells us, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10 WEB). This fullness of life is found in Christ alone, and without Him, no lasting victory is possible.

We also must speak truth in love regarding the relationship you describe. The term "boyfriend" implies a relationship that is not aligned with God’s design for marriage. Scripture is clear that sexual intimacy is reserved for the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman (Hebrews 13:4, 1 Corinthians 6:18-20). If this relationship involves sexual sin, it is grieving the heart of God and may be contributing to the spiritual oppression your boyfriend is facing. We urge you to prayerfully consider whether this relationship is honoring to the Lord. If it is not, repentance and a turning away from sin is the first step toward true freedom, for both of you.

That said, we do not minimize the grip of addiction. It is a spiritual battle as much as it is a physical and emotional one. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and addiction is one of his most effective tools. But Jesus came to set the captives free (Luke 4:18), and we declare that freedom over your boyfriend today. We rebuke the spirit of addiction in the name of Jesus and command it to loose its hold on him. We pray that the Holy Spirit would flood his mind with truth, breaking the lies that tell him he cannot overcome this.

Father God, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this young man who is bound by addiction. Lord, You see the pain, the struggle, and the fear that grips him. We ask that You would break every chain of drug dependency in his life. Replace his cravings with a hunger for You, his longing for substances with a longing for Your presence. We pray that You would fill the void in his heart that he has tried to fill with drugs. Let him know that only You can satisfy the deepest needs of his soul.

We ask that You would restore his mind, Lord. Addiction distorts thinking and clouds judgment, but Your Word says, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind" (Romans 12:2 WEB). Renew his mind with Your truth, God. Let him see himself as You see him, a beloved child, redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and called to a life of purpose and freedom.

We also pray for wisdom and strength for you, dear sister. It is not easy to love someone who is enslaved to addiction, and you cannot carry this burden alone. We encourage you to seek godly counsel, surround yourself with believers who can support and pray for you, and immerse yourself in God’s Word. Remember, "The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth" (Psalm 145:18 WEB). Lean on Him, for He is your strength and your refuge.

We pray that your boyfriend would come to a place of surrender, laying down his addiction at the foot of the cross. May he experience the power of the Holy Spirit working in him, giving him the strength to resist temptation and the courage to seek help. We declare that he is not defined by his addiction but by the finished work of Jesus Christ. We speak healing over his body, mind, and spirit, and we declare that he is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves him (Romans 8:37).

Finally, we pray for your relationship, but we do so with a heart that seeks God’s will above all else. If this relationship is meant to be, we ask that You would bring it into alignment with Your Word. If it is not, we pray for the strength to let go and trust You with the future. Either way, we ask that You would draw both of you closer to Yourself, for it is in You that we find true love, true freedom, and true purpose.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We can feel the love and deep concern in your words, carrying this burden for your boyfriend is heavy. When someone we care about is caught in addiction, it’s natural to want them to focus on the relationship and find hope for the future, but addiction has a way of pulling a person’s attention away from everything else, no matter how much they may care.

One thing we’ve seen is that addiction is rarely just a matter of willpower. It often involves physical dependence, emotional pain, and deeply ingrained patterns. That means breaking free usually takes more than determination alone: professional help, medical support, and a steady community make a real difference. So we’d gently encourage you to talk with him about seeing a doctor or a counselor who specializes in addiction. There are also wonderful church-based recovery programs like Celebrate Recovery where he can find both practical tools and spiritual support. You don’t have to figure this out alone, and neither does he.

While you’re walking alongside him, remember to guard your own heart, too. You can’t be the one to fix him, but you can be a steady, loving presence that encourages him toward help. Many churches offer groups for family members and loved ones of those struggling with addiction, finding that kind of support could be a lifeline for you as you navigate this.

We’re praying that God breaks the grip of addiction on his life and draws him into true freedom. We ask for wisdom for you both, for courage to take the next right step, and for God’s perfect will to unfold in each of your lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Your prayer for this young man betrays a love that is intense, and I do not doubt its sincerity, yet I must press you to examine its foundation. The deliverance you cry out for, that he should break free from the crushing slavery of drugs, is a mercy I would join you in seeking at the throne of grace, for no iron chains are forged that the great Emancipator cannot shatter. It is well to bring this burden to the Lord, for deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from its guilt. Our heavenly Father alone can pluck a man from the miry pit of addiction and set his feet upon a rock. Therefore, pray on, but let your prayers be laced with the faith that looks wholly to Jesus, the Lamb slain, whose blood has found a ransom for the chief of sinners.

But I must speak plainly, as one who watches for your soul. You plead, “Help him to focus on us being together and not the drug. Help him gain the faith that we going to be together.” Here is a snare most subtle. Your deepest desperation seems fixed not upon his soul’s standing before God, but upon the security of a bond that, as it stands, lacks the holy warrant of that lifelong covenant Christ ordains between one man and one woman. To ask for faith in your future together, while you dwell outside the estate of marriage, is to ask for a confidence founded upon sand. The shield of faith is not given to us to deflect the arrows of righteous conviction, but to quench the fiery darts of the wicked one. If you would wield that shield aright, you must not use it to cover a relationship that runs counter to your Lord’s revealed will. I charge you, do not make an idol of this companionship, nor imagine that a drug-freed man whose heart is not broken for his sin and bound fast to Christ will ever be a safe harbor for your affections.

Pray rather that this man, whom you so long to see delivered, would be brought forth from darkness into God’s marvelous light. Pray that he would be given the faith that lays hold of Jesus for salvation, for “he that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life.” When the Lord works that deliverance, when the prisoner is set free from the pit through the priceless ransom, then, and only then, will he have a foundation that cannot be moved. If it be God’s good pleasure that you should be united, it will be within the sacred bounds where He delights to bless. But until then, you must cast the whole weight of your care upon Him who careth for you, trusting not in a wished-for outcome, but in the Father’s wise and tender ordering of every detail. Let your faith, even if it be but little, speak bravely and say, “I will not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord”, and live in purity, obeying His commands while you wait.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You ask for prayer that this man be freed from the slavery of drugs, and that he fix his hope on your being together. But consider: what is the substance of your hope? Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. If your hope rests on a mortal relationship, it is something seen. True faith fastens on what eye has not seen: deliverance from sin, the resurrection of the dead, the kingdom of heaven. That is the helmet of salvation which guards the soul. A breastplate of faith and love protects the heart from every fiery dart. But if you set your love on a man, and that love is not ordered by God, you strip yourself of this armor and leave yourself wounded.

The drug is a terrible master, but it is only one chain. If this man is entangled in fornication with you, he carries a double bondage. You plead, "Help him gain the faith that we going to be together." But faith is not a tool to secure a desired outcome. It is not wishfulness. Abraham believed in hope against hope, not for a visible kingdom but for the promise of God. That faith was counted to him as righteousness because he cast away carnal reasoning and rested on the God who gives life to the dead. So must this young man: he must repent, not merely of substance abuse, but of every sin that wars against his soul. The grace of baptism cleanses from past stains, but to remain pure requires his own earnest will and daily striving. God does not compel; He calls, and we must supply faith and diligence.

Therefore, pray first that he flee to the mountains, away from the abomination that stands in the holy place of his body, which is meant to be a temple of the Holy Spirit. Pray that he put on lowliness of mind, for the humble man dwells in continual peace and has no ground for contentions. If he is truly yours, seek a way of purity: either within the covenant of marriage as God designed it, one man and one woman for life, or remain apart in continence until that day, if it be God's will. But do not make an idol of this union. The Church is one body in every place, sanctified in Christ Jesus, and your highest calling is to that unity, not to a bond that may feed the flesh.

Let your request be changed: ask that he gain the faith which overcomes the world, that he be clothed with hope in God, who is able to raise the dead. Then will he find true freedom, and you will see what God's love can build. This is the substance of things hoped for; this is the evidence of the unseen victory.
