hello prayer partners, now I am stressed and discouraged

hello prayer partners,
now i am stressed and discouraged about this issue. I have been a good mentor and friend to a male friend who is age ### younger than me. i regard him as my small brother and we are so close and our relationship is like blood siblings. however now people in the church have been gossiping about me and him and it very discouraging for me. I have been trying to avoid that young man however i can't because i don't want to hurt him. with all those negative thoughts and talks regarding our relationship i need more prayers to think clearly and positively towards this relationship as pure in God's sight. am ashamed with those comments and my thought of leaving church is comforting me. Please pray that i may find peace and forgiving.

I believe the main thing you need to know is, "what does the Lord want me to do?". Ask, knock, seek. You want the approval of God, not mankind. Right now you seem to be seeking the approval of those around you. All the gossip is going on around you because each of them wants the approval of the others they are gossiping to. Fear of mankind is something you need to get over. It is like a bully picking on someone. No one will stand up for the person being picked on for fear of others and the bully. All it would take usually is for just one person to stand up for the person being picked on and the bully and others would disperse.
