Hello, I feel like I can't be forgiven for my past.

I prayed for this request in Jesus Name.
We hear the heaviness in your heart and we want you to know that this feeling of being unforgivable is not from God, it is a lie the enemy wants you to believe to keep you in shame. When you were before Christ your past was your identity, but now in Christ your past is forgiven and covered by His blood. We want to gently rebuke that lie with the truth of Scripture.
The Word tells us in 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. And in Psalm 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. In 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. And Romans 8:1 reminds us There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. If God Himself has removed your sin, forgiven you, and made you new, no person has the authority to hold your past against you. You are fully forgiven, fully cleansed, fully accepted in Christ.
It grieves us that when you shared your testimony with other Christians you felt their attitude change and experienced unkindness. That is not how God calls His people to respond. We are commanded in Ephesians 4:32 to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. And in John 13:35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. Their unkindness reflects their own immaturity and lack of understanding of grace, not your worth before God. We encourage you to forgive them as Christ has forgiven you, and to not let their judgment define you. At the same time we encourage you to seek fellowship with believers who understand grace and who will rejoice that you have been rescued, not judge you for where you came from. Your testimony of what God has saved you from should bring glory to Him.
We notice you spoke of being a Christian but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have forgiveness and access to the Father. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is not by being a Christian in name or by telling others, but by placing your faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for your sins that you are truly forgiven and made new. If you have trusted in Jesus alone for your salvation, rest in that finished work.

Father, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. We thank You that You are merciful and gracious, that You have blotted out transgressions for Your own sake in Isaiah 43:25 and You remember our sins no more. We ask that You would break the chains of shame and the lie that they cannot be forgiven. Let Your Holy Spirit assure their heart that they are forgiven, cleansed, and loved. Heal the wound left by the unkindness of others and help them to forgive those who have judged them. Lead them to a fellowship of believers who will love them, encourage them, and speak Your grace over them. Help them to walk daily in the freedom of being a new creation, with no condemnation. We ask this in Jesus name, amen.
We encourage you to keep bringing your past to God in prayer and leaving it there, to meditate daily on verses about forgiveness and identity in Christ, and to share your testimony again not for the approval of people but for the glory of God who transformed you. Man may look at the outward appearance and past, but the Lord looks at the heart and sees His child redeemed by the blood of Jesus.

Thank you for being so honest about this. It takes real courage to share your past, and it hurts deeply when you do and sense people pulling away or becoming colder. We are sorry you experienced that.
It makes sense you would start to wonder if you are unforgivable when the very people you hoped would understand seem to treat you differently. Their distance can feel like confirmation, but how people react often says more about their own discomfort or lack of understanding than about who you are now or how God sees you.
You do not have to keep retelling your story widely to test whether you will be accepted. One thing that often helps is having one or two safe, mature people, perhaps a pastor or trusted counselor in your church, who can hear your whole story over time and walk with you, rather than carrying the weight of many different reactions.
We also encourage you to give yourself permission to step back from relationships that have felt unkind while you seek community where you are known and respected as you are today.
Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus' name. Quiet the heavy sense of being unforgiven and heal the sting of being judged after being vulnerable. Help them know deeply they are forgiven and loved, and lead them to steady, kind people who will walk with them. Give them wisdom and peace as they move forward. Amen.

There is forgiveness with God, and upon that truth you must anchor your soul when your own heart condemns you and when the looks of others seem to condemn you also.
Do you tremble and shake for fear, and with a penitent heart desire forgiveness. Then hear what God Himself says, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake. It is a divine forgiveness, and it is a surprising forgiveness, so surprising that the Lord repeats it, I, even I, lest any should doubt it. It cannot be pleaded by any one that his sins are too great to be pardoned, for the amount of guilt is hereby put entirely out of consideration, seeing that God forgives not on account of the sinner, but for His own sake. If you have been the chief of sinners, you may have the chief of sinners forgiveness, and God can bestow it now.
Suppose the question had been left open, forgiveness or no forgiveness. Where could we find it. But it is not left open. By way of assurance, O man, there is forgiveness for your sins, whatever they may have been. However sinful your life may have been up until now, there is forgiveness with God even for you. You know something about the hardness of your heart and the sinfulness of your past life, yet God sends this message to you, There is forgiveness. It is a soft and gentle whisper from the lips of Love, But there is forgiveness. Let this whisper drive away despair.
You feel as if you cannot be forgiven because others have altered toward you since you told them what you were before Christ. That wound is real, and it is painful to feel unkindness where you hoped for kindness. Yet the forgiveness that saves you does not come from man, but from God through Jesus Christ His Son. Turn to this Word and you will find the certainty of forgiveness. I believe in the forgiveness of sins. Do as Luther did when a brother said to him, Do you not say, I believe in the forgiveness of sins. Now believe in the forgiveness of sins for yourself. If by faith you can believe in the sin forgiving God and accept the matchless Atonement which covers all your guilt, then you are even now among the blessed.
That forgiveness, when it is truly received, is complete and eternal. Suppose you call on your creditor and say, I have nothing to pay with, and he replies, I forgive you the whole debt. So the Lord promises oblivion to all your debt, forgiveness of the whole of your sins. He not only forgave us at the first all our sins, but He continues daily to forgive, for the act of forgiveness is a continuous one. The gifts and calling of God are without repentance. He never plays fast and loose with men. What He forgives He drowns in the depths of the sea, and the whole of our guilt is swallowed up forever.
And mark this, at the very same time that the guilt of sin is taken away, the forgiven man undergoes a change of nature. The work of the Spirit is linked with the work of the Son, when the Son removes guilt, the Spirit removes guile. A pardoned man becomes a man without deceit, because his pardon is a real pardon, there is no fiction in it. He needs nothing but the Truth of God and that which will bear the test of the Judgment Day. Your past before you knew Christ does not define you now, for if you are in Christ, that old guilt is blotted out and a new nature is given.
As for the unkindness you have felt from fellow Christians, know that the pattern set before us is, even as Christ forgave you, so also do you. It is a joint stock business of mutual forgiveness, and members of Christian churches should take large shares in this concern, forgiving one another. Some of us have had so much manifest forgiveness, so much outward sin forgiven, that for us to forgive ought to be as natural as to open our hands. Where that is not shown, pray for those who have wounded you, and do not measure Gods heart by mans imperfect kindness. Man may remember what God has forgotten, but Gods forgiveness is what will stand in the Judgment.
Therefore come again, just as you are, to Christ who died, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, and trust Him alone for salvation. There is forgiveness with Him, now, at this moment. Seek it from Him, rest in it, and let the assurance that you are forgiven by Him be louder in your ear than any coldness from others.
