We join you in bringing this heartfelt cry before our Father and we thank you for humbly asking that your prayer be adjusted according to the will of God, for that is the heart of true prayer. We pray with you that both of your hearts would be softened and opened toward one another.

We are encouraged that you desire a powerful and positive transformation and that every chain that interferes would be broken, for we know that God is able to transform hearts and make all things new. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God Romans 12:2. We also cling to the promise that if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us 1 John 5:14, and we trust His will above our own desires. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6.

We want to lovingly speak truth concerning this relationship you desire to restore. If this is a romantic relationship, we pray that it is viewed through God’s design for marriage. We believe marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman that honors God, and that any romantic relationship should be courtship with the clear goal of godly marriage to a fellow believer in Christ. Can two walk together, unless they have agreed Amos 3:3, and we are reminded not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness with iniquity 2 Corinthians 6:14. If you are pursuing courtship, we encourage you both to seek purity and to flee from fornication, for sex before or outside of marriage does not honor God and brings harm to the relationship you hope to restore. We urge you to pursue holiness and to let your relationship be one that prepares you for marriage if it is God’s will. If this is a marriage that has been strained or separated, we pray earnestly for reconciliation, forgiveness and restoration, for what therefore God has joined together, don’t let man tear apart Matthew 19:6. In either case, restoration must be built on forgiveness, grace and love. Be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:32. Love is patient and is kind, love doesn’t envy, love doesn’t brag, is not proud, doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil, doesn’t rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth, bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.

We pray together for you now.

Father God, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one and the one whose name was redacted to You. Lord, You know their hearts, their hurts and their history. We ask that You soften both hearts, remove pride, bitterness and hardness, and fill them with Your tender mercy. Break every chain of sin, unforgiveness, past wounds and any influence that is not of You that interferes with Your perfect will for their lives. Open their eyes and hearts toward each other with truth and grace and guide them according to Your will. If it is Your will for this relationship to be restored, we pray You would restore it in a way that honors You and leads toward a holy marriage between a man and a woman who both love You, or toward healing and unity in marriage if they are already married. If it is not Your will, we pray You would give clear direction, peace and strength to follow Your path. Transform them both by Your Spirit and make them more like Christ. We need You, we thank You, we trust You and we love You. Let Your will be done in their lives. In Jesus Christ’s name we pray, Amen.

We heard the honesty in your prayer, the way you asked the Father to soften both hearts and to shape your request according to His will. That posture of trust while you are longing for restoration is not small, and we are joining you in it.

We know how painful it can be to want to move back toward each other and not know how to get there. Real restoration is not just feeling closer for a moment, it is an active, daily choice by both people to turn toward each other with openness and trustworthiness, while God does His quieter work underneath. Your desire for chains to be broken and for eyes and hearts to be opened again is a good and legitimate longing to bring to Him.

A gentle next step that often helps is to take a little time alone with the Lord and ask what a softer heart might look like in practice for you this week. It may be one specific way of listening more patiently, speaking more kindly, or releasing a hurt you have been holding. If you both are willing, inviting a trusted pastor or counselor to walk with you can also give you a safe, steady space to be honest and to keep seeking healing together.

Father, we lift these two hearts to You. Soften them toward You first and then toward each other. Remove what hinders love and trust, and guide their steps according to Your will. Bring the transformation only You can bring and give them wisdom and peace for each day ahead. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

Your prayer for softened hearts and for all to be made right according to the will of God has been heard, and it is good that you add, In Jesus Christ let my prayer be adjusted according to the will of God, for there alone is safety and wisdom.

The softening of the heart for which you ask is a work only God can do, and He does it in a way most blessed. Hearts are not softened by mere resolve or by longing for one another, but by looking to Christ pierced for our sins. If you will steadfastly consider Jesus pierced for sin and all that is meant thereby, your hearts must relent. The Cross is God's hammer of love with which He smites the hearts of men. Under the power of the Holy Spirit, faith in Christ is sufficient for deep and true repentance. I would therefore point you first not to one another, but to Him. Bring to Him your broken hearts and contrite spirits, for God will not despise them. Look to Him who bore your guilt, and let Him take the burden from your backs and hearts.

You ask for restoration and for every chain to be broken. Know that the first and greatest reconciliation we need is with God Himself. God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them. He is the God of peace and He has prepared everything necessary for a perfect reconciliation through the blood of His Son. When that reconciliation is known and felt, when sin is confessed and washed away in that precious blood, then joy returns and the heart is made whole. Christ is the healer of broken hearts, and He binds them up not by indulging our wishes, but by bringing us into fellowship with Himself.

You ask that God would guide you back together for once and for all. In love I must tell you plainly what the Scriptures teach, that we cannot ask God to bless a relationship apart from His holy design. Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and His way for love between a man and a woman is the lifelong covenant of marriage, one man and one woman, where alone the Lord has placed both the union of hearts and bodies and the grace to live together. Anything outside that covenant, whether in impurity or in living together without that vow, He calls us to turn from, not to continue in. To pray for God to bless what He calls sin would be to ask Him to deny His own goodness.

Therefore my prayer for you is shaped by His Word and by your own desire that His will be done. I pray that the Lord will give to each of you a true sight of Christ and of yourselves, that He will grant repentance where repentance is needed and faith where faith is needed. If there has been sin, that He will grant you to go out as Peter did, with tears of godly sorrow, and to hear again the gracious look of Christ who prayed for Peter and restored him. Peter was down, but by Christ's intercession he was soon up again, and his restoration made him more humble, more watchful, more useful to his brethren. So may the Lord restore you, first to Himself, and make you whole.

If it be the Lord's will that your lives should be joined, may He lead you in holiness and purity toward that holy covenant of marriage, with counsel, with patience, and with honour to Him. If it be not His will, may He give you grace to surrender your desires to His better wisdom, to be kept from presumption, and to find your solace not in one another but in Christ Himself, whose love never fails.

May the Lord soften your hearts toward Himself, break every chain of sin and unbelief that would hold you from Him, open your eyes to His mercy, and build you up in Zion according to His good pleasure. Seek Him first, trust His Word, walk in obedience, and leave the ordering of your relationship in His faithful hands, for He does all things well for those who love Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer has been brought before the Lord and we join you in asking that His will be done in this relationship above all else. You prayed rightly when you asked that your prayer be adjusted according to the will of God, for that is where true hope and peace are found.

The greatest good news we have is that God has made reconciliation possible between Himself and us through Jesus Christ alone. Through Him we receive remission of sins and righteousness and sanctification and redemption and adoption as sons and daughters. Before we ask God to restore any relationship with another person, we must first be sure our hearts are softened toward Him in repentance and faith, trusting Christ alone for salvation.

We will pray that God softens both of your hearts, first toward Himself and then toward one another in a way that honors Him. That means asking Him to open your eyes to see any sin that needs to be confessed, to grant you a spirit of forgiveness where there has been hurt, and to break every chain of sin, bitterness, temptation or confusion that keeps you from walking in holiness.

If this is a romantic relationship, Scripture teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that sexual intimacy and living together belong only within that covenant. God does not bless us by affirming what is outside His design, but He does bless us when we seek to honor Him with our bodies and our commitments. So we pray not simply that you would be brought back together, but that if you are brought back together it would be in purity, truth and a commitment that reflects Christ's love for the church, and if it is not His will for you to be together, that He would give you both grace to accept His path and to walk in wholeness before Him.

Therefore we pray in this way: Father, in the name of Jesus, soften these two hearts toward you. Draw each one to know your mercy and to trust in Christ alone. Reveal your will clearly, grant repentance where needed, teach forgiveness, and lead them away from every form of sin. If restoration is according to your good purpose, guide them toward a relationship that is holy and God honoring, and if not, give strength to walk forward in obedience and peace. Transform them by your Spirit and make them more like your Son. We trust your wisdom and your love to do what is best. In Jesus Christ's name, Amen.

We encourage you to continue in prayer, to stay rooted in Scripture, and to seek wise counsel from faithful pastors in your local church who can know your situation more fully and walk with you in person.
