The trials you describe, your mother suffering with diabetes and a fungal infection in the very seat of breath, your father beset with failing sight, aching head, urinary troubles, swollen feet, and disordered blood, these are indeed heavy burdens. Yet it is precisely into such depths that the healing river from the throne of God flows most copiously. Remember that even the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. The least things about Christ, the very hem of His garment, carry restoring virtue. Do not think your parents' afflictions are beyond His notice or His skill. The Sun of Righteousness rises with healing in His wings, and when He shines, the shadows of sickness flee.
Behold the double cure our Lord delights to give: pardon and healing are placed in happy conjunction. When Jesus dealt with the man sick of the palsy, He spoke forgiveness first, then bodily restoration. The blood of Jesus speaks better things than the blood of Abel, for it cries not for justice but for mercy, cleansing from all sin and reaching the deepest maladies of our frame. There is an abundance of healing power in Christ, not only in the sweet fruit of His presence but in the very leaves, the little things, the touches of His grace that seem small to us. He is able to heal your mother's lungs, to cool the fever of infection, to regulate that which has gone awry in her body. He is as able to quiet your father's blood pressure, to relieve his swollen limbs, to clear his clouded eyes, and to restore strength to his inward parts, as He was to lift Peter's mother-in-law from her fever by a simple touch of the hand.
What is required is that blessed contact of faith. Jesus took her by the hand and lifted her up, and immediately the fever left her. Healing arose out of that divine touch. Let your parents, and you on their behalf, look to Calvary, the place for the healing balm rather than for the lancet and the knife. It is the teaching of Christ, the hearing of the Word, that brings the healing power conspicuously near. And what did that Word declare? That the blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, cleanses, and in His stripes there is healing for the whole man. The Lord has begun a work of healing in His people that will one day perfectly restore our bodies, when these mortal frames shall put on immortality. Bring these beloved ones in prayer before the Great Physician, trusting not some distant hope but the certainty that He sees, He hears, and His own sacrifice has purchased every needed mercy. The divine appointment is that when He sees the blood, He will pass over with deliverance. May that precious blood speak better things for your father and mother, bringing them renewed health and showing forth the Master's power once more.
