It takes courage to reach out when you are suffering and carrying a child. I want you to know that we are lifting you and your little one before the Lord, asking for His mercy and healing over the infection you’re battling.
When our bodies weaken or pain intrudes, especially during such a delicate season, it can be frightening. You may wonder why God allows it, and that is a question many faithful people carry. We see around us people in prime health struck down suddenly, or a baby’s life measured in hours, and no satisfying explanation comes. God’s ways are not ours, and He never promises that a life of trust will be free from physical trouble. Some of the most devoted believers I know face chronic health battles, and it has nothing to do with a lack of faith. So please don’t let shame or confusion add to your burden. Your suffering is not a sign that God has turned away.
When the Apostle John wrote to his friend Gaius, he said, “I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.” That beautiful sentence was not a blanket guarantee of perfect wellness, but a heartfelt prayer, the kind a loving friend breathes over someone dear. And we can take that same prayer and pour it out for you: that your body would be restored, that the infection would clear, and that your baby would remain safe and strong. God is interested in your health. The Scriptures show Him giving Israel wise practices for diet, cleanliness, and rest, not as arbitrary rules but because He cares how we treat the bodies He made. So while you wait on Him, pursue the good medical care available to you. Follow the hygiene and treatment that wisdom and modern medicine provide, because those are common graces He uses to bring healing.
Remember the story of Elizabeth, who was six months pregnant when Mary came to visit. At the sound of Mary’s voice, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. There is a mystery and a wonder to the life growing inside you, and God’s eye is on every hidden moment of that child’s formation. He knows your baby perfectly, and He knows the pain you feel. I encourage you to speak calmly to your little one even now, to sing or pray aloud, and to entrust both of you into the hands of the One who holds all things together.
Like Mary, who faced her own overwhelming circumstances with the words “Be it unto me according to your word,” you can place your situation before God and rest in His character. Tell Him your fears. Cry out for relief. And then let your heart settle on the truth that nothing is impossible with Him. He can heal a urinary tract as easily as He can calm a storm. We will continue to ask Him to do exactly that, longing with you that your physical health may soon match the spiritual trust you are showing by reaching out. May you sense His nearness and peace in the days ahead.
