Health and financial stability

Your request for bodily health and relief from financial strain is heard. But let us consider what truly makes a person whole. When our Lord healed the man on the Sabbath, He did not merely mend a part but made "a whole man healthy," showing that the healing of the soul is greater than any outward sign. You seek a normal TSH, a new job, provision for your family. These are not evil things, yet they are not the true riches. For poverty does not consist in lacking money, but in craving more than you have; the rich man is not the one with large possessions, but the one who stands in need of nothing. If God grants you health and a livelihood, do not then grow remiss and return to the former neglect of your soul, like a sick man who, after a brief recovery, gorges on the very foods that brought him low. Many who now prosper will fall, and many in want will rise; neither despair like one already condemned, nor presume upon success as if you stood secure.

Examine why you desire these things. Is it to escape hardship, or to serve God with greater freedom? The Apostle says, "If anyone will not work, neither let him eat," yet also, "Do not grow weary in doing good." Diligently seek employment, but even more diligently seek to detach your heart from worldly wealth, which cannot travel with you into the next life and often wounds the soul as it remains behind. I have seen the poor man, content with little, shine brighter in virtue than the rich man drowning in his plenty. Your true poverty is your sin; your true health is communion with Christ. Come to the holy table not carelessly, but with a purified conscience, for the Deacon cries out that only the holy may draw near. I will pray not that you simply receive what you ask, but that you obtain a right disposition to bear both want and plenty, and that this trial may turn your eyes to the everlasting riches where no disease can touch the body and no creditor knock at the door.

Your circumstances weigh heavily, and it is right to bring them openly before the Lord. When health falters and finances tighten, the heart can feel crushed under a load heavier than sand. You are not wrong to cry out for relief and clarity. Scripture itself holds the honest, ragged cries of a man named Job, who lost wealth and bodily strength in a single storm. He sat in ashes, longing for answers, and three friends came insisting that such suffering could only mean hidden sin. They were wrong, and their words only deepened his misery.

God was not punishing Job for some secret failure. Behind the scenes, God had boasted that Job was upright and blameless. Yet He permitted the trial for purposes Job could not begin to grasp. When you face unexplained thyroid troubles or the prolonged search for a job, do not let the accuser’s whisper convince you that God has abandoned you or that this is His displeasure. That is the very lie Satan meant to provoke in Job’s heart. But Job, in all his lament, did not curse God or charge Him with wrongdoing.

The road through uncertainty can be lonely, especially when well-meaning voices suggest that if only you had enough faith or purity, everything would fall into place. Job’s friends gave those simplistic equations. God’s final word rebuked them. He never did tell Job the full reason; He simply revealed Himself, and that was enough. So I urge you: seek the Lord’s face, not just His hand for provision. Acquaint yourself with His character, and let His words settle deep. He has not forgotten you. One greater than Job’s longed-for mediator now stands between you and the Father, Jesus Christ, who intercedes with nail-scarred hands.

I am praying specifically for your TSH to return to normal, for a door to open into suitable work, and for a genuine breakthrough in your family’s finances. But I also pray that your heart would find the peace that passes understanding, the kind that kept Job clinging when every outward support crumbled. Your story is not yet finished. The same God who restored Job’s fortunes and gave him latter days sweeter than the beginning remains faithful today. May His presence be your steady anchor in the waiting.
