Healing

We hear your cry for forgiveness and healing and we join with you before the throne of grace to seek the Lord together in Jesus' name. We thank God that you have come with a repentant heart, for that is where healing begins.

We want to speak the truth in love about what you have confessed. Pornography is not a small struggle or merely a bad habit, it is sin. It is sexual immorality and lust of the heart which God calls us to flee. Jesus said that everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart in Matthew 5:28. We are told to flee sexual immorality in 1 Corinthians 6:18 and that our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which we are to glorify God with in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. It defiles the good gift of sexuality that God designed for the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and it brings bondage and shame, but we rejoice that you are turning to the Lord for mercy instead of hiding this sin. He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy in Proverbs 28:13.

We also noticed your request says Lord but does not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and receive forgiveness. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me in John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12. To be healed of sin we must first be reconciled to God through faith in Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord in Romans 10:9. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation and forgiveness.

The good news is that God is faithful to forgive and to cleanse. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness in 1 John 1:9. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us in Psalm 103:12. When we repent, God not only forgives but creates a new heart within us. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me in Psalm 51:10. And we are promised that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new in 2 Corinthians 5:17.

Healing from this sin will involve both God's forgiveness and your daily walking in repentance. We encourage you to take radical steps to flee temptation as Jesus taught, to cut off the sources, to remove access on your devices, to install filters, to bring this into the light with a mature Christian brother for accountability, for confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed in James 5:16. Do not walk in isolation. Renew your mind daily with the Word of God and do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind in Romans 12:2. Fill your mind with what is true and pure, for whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, think about these things in Philippians 4:8. No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it in 1 Corinthians 10:13.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we lift up this dear one who is seeking Your forgiveness and healing from pornography. Lord, we confess this sin before You and we ask for Your mercy. Forgive him as he confesses and wash him clean by the blood of Jesus. Create in him a clean heart and renew a steadfast spirit within him. Heal the wounds this sin has left on his mind, his heart, and his conscience. Help him to hate what You hate and to love purity and holiness. Give him strength to flee sexual immorality, to turn his eyes away from worthless things, and to walk in the Spirit so that he will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Provide for him godly accountability and fellowship, and guard him from the schemes of the enemy. Teach him to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ and to walk in freedom, for sin will not have dominion over those who are under grace in Romans 6:14. Restore to him the joy of Your salvation and let him live as a vessel of honor, sanctified and useful for Your purposes. We ask that You lead him, if it is Your will, toward a godly marriage that honors You, and until then to live in purity and self control. We trust Your promise to heal and restore, for You are the God who heals us in Psalm 103:3. We pray all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

Thank you for your honesty in bringing this before the Lord. It takes courage to name this struggle plainly, and we are grateful you reached out instead of carrying it alone.

We hear both parts of your prayer, the desire to be forgiven and the desire to be healed and made whole. Shame can keep us hiding, but bringing it into the light with God and with another trusted person is where change can begin. Healing is often a process, with ups and downs, not a single moment, and God is patient as you walk it out with Him.

A practical step that helps many is to break isolation. Consider inviting one safe, mature Christian friend, pastor or counselor to walk with you in ongoing accountability, someone you can be honest with weekly. Many also find strength in a small support group for men or women facing the same struggle, where you can learn to notice triggers, practice turning to healthier ways of handling stress or loneliness, and keep surrendering the struggle to Christ. If this has been a long pattern, a Christian counselor can also help you explore deeper roots with care.

Father, we bring our brother before You in Jesus name. Thank You that You forgive when we confess and that Your mercy is real. Bring healing to his heart and mind, give him strength to turn away and to turn toward You, and surround him with trustworthy support. Guide his next steps and give him hope for purity and wholeness as he keeps walking with You. Amen.

I want you to know that you are not alone! The primary way to beat it is to grow your faith in Christ! It don't matter if you struggle with porn just grow your faith in Christ! It will all come naturally! You can do this by reading the Bible and if your attention span wouldn't let you like it did for me you can listen to Christian songs! Maybe even try praying for people on here. It's amazing what faith can really do.

As for prayers, heavenly Father. You know our struggles, please help everyone amen! I pray that he is healed of his pornography and strengthens his faith in you! In Jesus name amen!

you have good faith for asking for this prayer

There is forgiveness with God, even for this sin, and your penitent cry has come up before Him who says, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake.

You tremble and shake for fear, and with a penitent heart desire forgiveness, and to such a heart the Lord speaks surprising forgiveness. It is divine forgiveness, not the forgiveness of man, but of Him against whom you have sinned. It is surprising that such sins should be remitted, yet so it is, for where God draws no limit, do not you draw any. There is forgiveness, not for this sin or for that only, but there is forgiveness with Him, full and complete. Suppose you call upon your creditor and say, I have nothing to pay with, He answers that the tally is destroyed, the record of your debt is nailed to the Cross. If you have been the chief of sinners, you may have the chief of sinners forgiveness, and God can bestow it now through Jesus Christ His Son, for salvation is through Him alone.

And with forgiveness comes healing, for healing and pardon are placed in happy conjunction. The people that dwell in Zion shall be forgiven their iniquity, and the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick. When Jesus healed the man sick of the palsy, He said, Son, be of good cheer, thy sins are forgiven thee, and pardon and healing were one. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ, for the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. These healing leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. He not only forgave at the first all your sins, but He continues daily to forgive, and the forgiveness which God gives for Christ's sake is an eternal forgiveness, for the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. He never plays fast and loose with men.

Do as Martin Luther did when a brother monk said to him, Do you not say, I believe in the forgiveness of sins? Now believe in the forgiveness of sins for yourself. Believe that there is forgiveness for you at this moment, whatever your past life has been, and look to Christ alone to receive it.

Yet charity and purity are the two great garments of Christianity, and charity without purity will be of no use. We are called to keep ourselves unspotted from the world, without which no man shall see the Lord. The blessed purity of our holy faith is conspicuous in the character of the God whom it reveals. He forgives to make you holy, not to leave you in sin. Flee then from that which defiles the soul and the body, for sex and all its joys belong only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and outside of it every such act is sin before God. Turn from this evil with full purpose of heart, make no provision for the flesh, and walk in the way of holiness, seeking His strength to keep you.

We will pray for you, that the Lord who pardons will also heal, that He will wash you in the blood of Christ, renew your mind, and keep you by His Spirit. May He lift you up forgiven and healed, to live a pure and holy life to His praise.
