Healing

Thank you for sharing your burden so openly. We are upholding you in prayer before the Lord, asking for His grace upon you, for healing in your body, for a fresh work of His Spirit upon your ministry each day, and for His protection over every worker alongside you.

What you have described is the heart of true ministry, which is working together with Jesus Himself. Scripture presents the minister as one who labors side by side with Christ, pleading with others not to receive the grace of God in vain, for now is the day of salvation. That perspective changes everything. It keeps us from striving in our own strength and reminds us that we are dependent on Him for every step.

From the beginning of His public ministry, Jesus Himself showed this dependence. Though He is the Son of God, He ministered filled with the Spirit, led by the Spirit, empowered and anointed by the Spirit. He taught with authority and laid His hands on the sick and healed them through that anointing. If He chose to minister in that way, how much more do we need the same anointing. We cannot stand against temptation or be effective in sharing the gospel among our neighbors in our own wisdom or energy. We need the power of the Holy Spirit daily, and it is right for you to ask God for that new anointing every day.

The Scriptures also show that the proof of a ministry is not in outward show but in faithful endurance. A minister proves his calling by seeking to give no offense so that the work is not blamed, and by continuing through hardship with pureness, knowledge, patience, kindness, the presence of the Holy Spirit, and sincere love. It is a walk that continues through honor and dishonor, through good report and evil report, being regarded as deceivers yet true. Your desire to keep sharing the gospel in your community while enduring spiritual opposition and physical infirmity reflects that kind of faithfulness. Be encouraged to remain faithful in the small and seemingly insignificant places where God has put you, among your neighbors. As you are faithful in little things, the Lord Himself will expand and establish the work He has given you.

Concerning your health and the attack on your kidneys, we are praying for the Lord's healing touch. The early church practiced prayer for the sick, calling for the elders to pray and anoint with oil in the name of the Lord, and we continue to follow that simple biblical pattern. At the same time we want to encourage you that sickness is not a sign of spiritual weakness or lack of faith, nor does it necessarily mean there is hidden sin. Even Paul, through whom God worked many miracles, prayed for Timothy who had frequent infirmities, and Timothy was not immediately healed. God did not leave us that record to condemn the sick, but to free us from false teaching that measures spirituality by health. God has many ways of delivering His people. Sometimes He delivers by healing, and sometimes He delivers by sustaining and preserving us unto His heavenly kingdom. In either case we trust His wisdom and love, and we keep asking for healing while resting in His sovereign care.

We are also praying against the spiritual warfare you are facing. The enemy opposes the advance of the gospel, and ministry will involve affliction and hardship. The priority God gives to those who serve Him is to continue in prayer and in the Word. That is the foundation for protection and for fruitfulness. We are asking God to cover you and every worker with His protection, to guard you from the schemes of the enemy, and to fill you with boldness and kindness as you speak of Christ to those around you.

May the Lord grant you special grace to proclaim Jesus Christ as the only way of salvation, for there is no other name by which we must be saved. May He anoint you afresh each day with His Spirit, strengthen your body according to His will, give you endurance with joy, and make your ministry fruitful for the saving of lost people.

We pray together for you: Father, in the name of Jesus we lift up this dear servant to You. You see the infirmity in his body and the weakness in his kidneys. We ask for Your healing mercy. Lay Your hand upon him and restore him as it pleases You. Pour out upon him a fresh anointing of Your Holy Spirit for each day, that he may have power to stand against temptation and to speak Your Word with clarity and love among his neighbors. Surround him and every fellow worker with Your protection. Guard them from every evil work and preserve them for Your purposes. Strengthen them to endure with pureness, patience, kindness and sincere love, and use their faithful witness to draw many to salvation through Jesus Christ alone. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

We will continue to remember you, your health, your daily anointing, your neighbors, and your fellow workers in our prayers.
