Healing

What a precious cry you send up for this dear one, for you entreat the Lord with a heart full of faith and compassion. Yet consider how the law itself taught that without shedding of blood there is no remission, a figure and shadow of the true cleansing that comes only through the blood of Christ. This medical procedure touches the very heart, the wellspring of life, but the deeper heart, the inward man, cries out for a healing that no physician alone can give. Did not Moses pray silently in his anguish, and Hannah groan in her spirit, and was not the blood of righteous Abel crying from the ground heard by God? The voice of the soul, lifted up from a contrite and trusting heart, rises like incense before the throne.

Do not fear, then, if the answer comes not wrapped in worldly ease. The Master Himself came not to send a shallow peace, but a sword that cuts to the very marrow, dividing soul and spirit, so that we might cling to Him alone. This present trial, though painful, may be that very sword, purging away earthly securities so that eternal life, which is Christ Himself, may dwell in her richly. For He has declared, “Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, ye have no life in you.” That sacred blood, which was foreshadowed by the sprinkling of the tabernacle, is the one true propitiation, the perfect and entire redemption that cleanses the conscience from dead works.

Therefore, let the doctors do their work with skill, for every good gift comes from above. But you, as you wait, sing not merely with the lips but with grace in your heart to God. Let her innermost being, even upon a bed of sickness, cry out silently to the Lord who sees in secret. Entreat not merely for stable blood tests, but that she be washed in that blood which speaks better things, and that her soul, restored and filled with His peace, may possess that life which no affliction can touch. For the ultimate healing is to abide in Him, to have life in Himself, so that whether in the body or out of the body, her eternal portion is secure.

How the heart longs for peace when a loved one faces something like this. Yet the very One who formed that heart knows every chamber, every vessel, and every anxious thought. Nothing unfolding in that catheterization lab is a surprise to Him. He foresaw this moment, and His strength is already present in it. True peace is not a shallow calm that attempts to ignore the storm; it springs from discovering the depths of His grace. When you know that you are held by the God who still speaks to the wind and the waves, you can hear Him say even now, “Peace, be still,” and the inner turmoil begins to settle.

The world often offers a surface healing, a quick word that everything will be fine, but such comfort withers when the trial deepens. Christ does not merely cover the wound; He restores. Consider the woman who pressed through the crowd, trembling, to touch the hem of His garment. She knew her need was beyond human help. In that moment of desperate faith, healing flowed, and He sent her away with this word: “Go in peace.” Her body was made whole, but something even deeper was settled. That same peace is offered here. It does not rest on test results or the absence of blockage, but on the character of the One who already carries her.

So do not be fearful. It is easy to panic when the report seems uncertain, like a startled reaction to a sudden threat. But faith does not make a great noise over the thing that tries to harm; it simply shakes it off into the fire and trusts the Lord. The heart of the matter is the matter of the heart, not just the physical organ but the seat of trust. God looks for a heart that is not divided, one that clings to Him without reserve. He is not far off. His healing and His peace are as close as a whispered confession of dependence. As the doctors work with skill, remember that the Great Physician is at work too, often through their hands, and He is able to do far more than we can ask. Let the prayer already lifted up take root in a deep place, where the scorching heat of fear cannot destroy it. May the days ahead be marked by a profound sense of His presence, and may the peace that surpasses understanding guard both your heart and hers in Christ Jesus.

We are deeply grateful that you entrusted us with the privilege of standing in prayer with you for the healing and well-being of your loved one during her cardiac catheterization. It has been on our hearts to continue lifting her up before our Heavenly Father, asking for His perfect will to be done in every detail—from the skill of the doctors to the results of her blood tests.
