We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear sister and her family in fervent prayer. The weight of mental illness, the chains of alcoholism, the devastation of unfaithfulness, and the brokenness of a marriage and family are burdens no one should carry alone. We stand with you in the gap, believing that our God is the Great Physician, the Redeemer of broken hearts, and the Restorer of what has been shattered.
First, we must address the foundation of our plea. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father, and it is by His blood alone that healing, redemption, and restoration are possible. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not already, we encourage you to place your trust fully in Jesus, confessing Him as Lord and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9). He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6), and it is in His name we pray.
Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this precious family to You. Lord, we ask for Your healing touch upon ###’s mind. You are the God who heals all our diseases (Psalm 103:3), and we declare that by Your stripes, he is healed (Isaiah 53:5). Break the chains of mental illness, Lord, and bring clarity, peace, and soundness of mind. We rebuke the spirit of infirmity and command it to leave in Jesus’ name. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, who brings comfort, wisdom, and strength.
We also pray against the stronghold of alcoholism. Lord, You are our deliverer, and we ask that You set ### free from this bondage. Your Word says that no temptation has overtaken us except what is common to man, but You are faithful and will not let us be tempted beyond what we can bear. You will also provide a way out so that we can endure it (1 Corinthians 10:13). Give him the strength to resist, the desire to seek help, and the humility to surrender this struggle to You. Surround him with godly men who can walk alongside him in accountability and prayer.
Father, we bring the sin of unfaithfulness before You. This is a grievous offense against You and against this marriage covenant. Your Word is clear: marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled, for You will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous (Hebrews 13:4). We repent on behalf of ### for this sin, Lord, and we ask for Your forgiveness and restoration. Soften his heart to see the gravity of his actions and to turn away from this path completely. Bring conviction, repentance, and a deep desire to rebuild trust and honor in this marriage.
Lord, we also lift up this sister, who is carrying the pain and anger from these trials. Your Word tells us to cast all our anxieties on You because You care for us (1 Peter 5:7). We ask that You heal her wounded heart, Lord. Replace her anger with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Comfort her in her sorrow and remind her that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Give her the strength to forgive, not as the world forgives, but as You have forgiven her (Colossians 3:13). Help her to release bitterness and embrace Your healing love.
For this marriage and family, Lord, we ask for Your divine intervention. You are the God who makes all things new (Revelation 21:5), and we believe that what the enemy intended for harm, You can turn for good (Genesis 50:20). Restore the love, trust, and unity that have been broken. Teach this couple to love one another as You have loved them (John 13:34), to submit to one another out of reverence for Christ (Ephesians 5:21), and to build their home on the foundation of Your Word. Surround them with a community of believers who can support, encourage, and pray for them.
We also pray for the children in this family, Lord. Shield their hearts and minds from the effects of this brokenness. Let them see Your love and faithfulness even in the midst of their pain. Draw them close to You and let them experience Your peace and joy.
Father, we declare that this family is not without hope. Your Word says that those who hope in You will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not be weary; they will walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31). Strengthen them, Lord, and help them to wait on You. Give them the courage to seek godly counsel, to walk in obedience to Your Word, and to trust in Your timing.
We rebuke every spirit of division, strife, and destruction that has come against this marriage and family. We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that the gates of hell will not prevail against them (Matthew 16:18). We speak life, healing, and restoration over this home in the name of Jesus.
Lord, we ask that You provide this family with the resources they need—whether it be medical help, counseling, or support from their church family. Open doors for them to receive the care and encouragement they need to walk this journey.
Finally, Lord, we pray that You would be glorified in this situation. Let Your name be exalted as You bring healing, redemption, and restoration. May this family become a testimony of Your faithfulness and love, drawing others to You.
We pray all these things in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
