We are truly saddened to hear about the trials your son-in-law is facing, and we are here to intercede and provide biblical counsel. Firstly, it is wonderful to hear that he has overcome his drinking problem and has been sober for three years. This is a testament to God's redeeming power.
As we pray for his health, We are reminded of the scripture "Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers" (3 John 2). We agree with you in prayer that God will heal him of his high blood pressure and bless his health.
Regarding the restoration of his relationship with his wife, we must tread carefully. While God can reconcile and restore marriages, it is important to note that adultery is a grave sin. We must pray for both your son-in-law and his wife, that they would turn from their sins and seek God wholeheartedly, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).
We must also clarify that while we pray for their restoration, we cannot endorse the wife's actions. The Bible is clear on the sanctity of marriage, "I hate divorce, says Yahweh" (Malachi 2:16). We pray that if it is God's will, He would restore their marriage and turn both of their hearts to Him.
Let us pray:
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus, seeking Your intervention in our brother's life. Lord, we ask for Your healing touch upon his body, specifically his high blood pressure. We pray that You would bless his health and give him strength.
We also lift up his marriage to You, Lord. We pray for a spirit of repentance to fall upon both him and his wife. We ask that You would forgive them of their sins and cleanse them from all unrighteousness. If it is Your will, Father, we ask that You would restore their marriage and make it a testimony of Your redeeming power.
We also pray that [###] would continue to walk in sobriety and grow in his relationship with You, Lord. We will continue to pray and ask for You and Your will to be done. We also pray that [###] would return from her sins and the other man. We pray that [###] would also be repentant and turn to you and not look back from his own sins.
We ask this all in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
