Healing, protection, sleep

Thank you for sharing your heart for your son. I join you in bringing him before our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus, asking for His healing, His protection, and His gift of peaceful sleep.

Jesus showed during His earthly ministry that He cares about every kind of suffering. He went about teaching and preaching and healing every sickness and disease among the people, and Matthew reminds us that this fulfills what Isaiah foretold, that He took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. That includes the wounds of the mind and heart as well as the body. The Lord is able to touch anxious thoughts, to calm fear, and to heal the deep scars that trauma leaves behind.

Healing in Scripture does not always look the same. Sometimes Jesus healed instantly with a word or a touch, and sometimes the healing was gradual, like a seed that sprouts, then forms a stalk, then an ear, then the full grain. Sometimes He healed without even being present, and sometimes He laid His hands on someone. All healing is from Him, even the ordinary processes He placed within our bodies and minds to restore us, for He created those processes. There is much we do not fully understand about why some receive an immediate deliverance while others walk a longer path toward wholeness. Even the apostle Paul prayed three times for his thorn to be removed and learned to trust God's wise and loving answer. What we do know is that God hears our prayers, He is compassionate, and He invites us to keep asking.

I pray that the Lord will touch your son's mind and heart with His healing hand. May He quiet the anxious thoughts and nightmares that come with trauma and bring healing to the memories and wounds that trouble his sleep. The Bible speaks of God giving sleep to His beloved and of causing His people to dwell safely and sleep securely, and it tells of times when God caused a deep sleep to fall upon people to protect and preserve. In the same way I ask that God would surround your son with His presence, station His holy angels around him, and shield him from harm, evil, and danger.

May the Lord grant him deep, peaceful, uninterrupted sleep, and may he awaken refreshed and comforted, knowing he is held safely in the Father's care. We trust this to the Lord who never sleeps Himself but watches over His children, who understands our weakness and who promises peace to those who call upon Him.

Father, in the name of Jesus I lift up this dear son to You. Comfort him, heal him in body, mind, and spirit according to Your perfect will, calm his heart, and grant him quiet and restful nights. Surround him with Your protection and let him know Your nearness and love. Amen.
