What a precious prayer you have lifted for your son. I am joining my faith with yours, trusting that the Lord who saw your tears and heard every word will answer in power.
Never doubt God’s willingness to heal. So many get tangled up trying to figure out if He is willing, when the real question is simply whether we will trust Him. I think of the leper who came to Jesus and said, “If you will, you can make me clean.” Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, and immediately he was whole. It was never a question of power, it was always His compassionate will. And I believe that same will is reaching toward your son right now. Do not let religious rules or dead traditions box in God’s mercy. People once scolded Jesus for making clay and restoring sight on a Sabbath day, as if love could be scheduled. But healing flows from the heart of God whenever faith draws near. He is not bound by time or circumstance.
Concerning his mind, remember that we are body, mind, and spirit. The mind stands in the middle, and it takes its direction from whatever rules us. If the flesh dominates, the mind becomes filled with anxiety, confusion, and torment, it is the mind of the flesh, and it leads to a kind of death. But when the Spirit takes charge, the mind becomes a place of life and peace. Your prayer for a sound mind is exactly right: the Holy Spirit brings order out of chaos. Guard that young man’s heart with all diligence. Encourage him to close every door to what is impure, to reject voices that plant fear or darkness, because once such things take root in the mind they are terribly hard to dislodge. But far greater is the One who can cleanse the inward parts and renew a right spirit. The Lord knows how to put divine direction into a soul, just as He guides the tiny golden plover across thousands of miles of uncharted ocean. He can and will guide your son’s thoughts back to safety.
Sleep is a gift, and God is the giver. Scripture shows us that at times the Lord causes a deep sleep to fall upon people as a protective shield, a whole armed camp once slumbered while David walked right through. Jesus Himself slept soundly in a storm-tossed boat while the waves crashed over the sides. He was at rest in the Father’s care, and when He awoke, He spoke peace to the wind and sea. I ask the Lord to give your son that same supernatural sleep: a sleep that guards him from fear, a sleep that shuts out the torments of the night, a sleep in which he is safe because the Shepherd Himself lies down at the door of the fold. Nothing can reach him except over the Shepherd’s own body.
I remember a morning when I woke up so sick that I could hardly move. Lying there, I prayed, and suddenly I felt a rush of healing strength. I leaped out of bed, and my startled wife asked what was happening. I just said, “I’m healed.” It was real, tangible, and complete. Jesus still says, “Don’t be afraid; only believe.” He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He bore our sicknesses and carried our pains. That includes psychosis, broken thoughts, and every unseen torment. Cast out every spirit that does not bow to His name. He has all authority in the physical, material, and spiritual realms. The evil powers must obey Him.
Hold on to this comfort: even when we do not fully understand the present struggle, God always deals with us with eternity in mind. We think of today and tomorrow; He is shaping us for everlasting joy. The Potter applies pressure where needed, but His end is always mercy. Your son is not forgotten. The Lord is working something far deeper than we can see, and until the full answer comes, He will keep him safe, physically, mentally, and spiritually. Stand firm in that hope, and let your own mind rest in the Spirit’s peace. I am praying with you, and I believe you will soon testify of God’s faithfulness.
