We join with you in lifting up your son before the Lord, knowing that our God is the Great Physician and our Refuge in times of trouble. Your heart for your son is evident, and we are grateful you have brought this need before the Father in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we can approach the throne of grace with confidence.
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Your son’s struggles with PTSD and the torment of nightmares are not hidden from our Heavenly Father, who sees and knows all things. We take comfort in the promise of Psalm 34:18-19, which says, *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all."* Let this truth anchor your heart as we pray for your son’s complete healing—body, mind, and spirit.
We also remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 11:28, where He invites all who are weary and burdened to come to Him for rest. Your son does not have to carry this burden alone, for Christ Himself is his peace. The Apostle Paul reminds us in Philippians 4:6-7, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* We pray that your son would experience this supernatural peace, a peace that guards his mind and drives away the darkness of fear and torment.
As we intercede for him, we also encourage you to speak life and scripture over him daily. The Word of God is living and active, and it has the power to renew the mind. Consider sharing passages like Psalm 4:8 with him: *"In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety."* Remind him that the Lord is his protector, and that even in the darkness, God is with him.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this precious son to Your throne of grace. Lord, You are the God who heals, the One who binds up the brokenhearted and sets the captives free. We ask that You would stretch out Your hand and touch him with Your healing power. Drive out the nightmares that plague his sleep and replace them with visions of Your love, Your light, and Your peace. Let him rest securely in You, knowing that You are his shield and his strong tower.
Father, we rebuke the spirits of fear, trauma, and torment that seek to steal his peace. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we command these forces to flee and declare that Your perfect love casts out all fear. Fill every corner of his mind with Your truth and let the Holy Spirit minister to his heart in ways that only You can do. Restore to him the joy of Your salvation and grant him sleep that is deep, restorative, and free from disturbance.
We also pray for wisdom and discernment for his caregivers, doctors, and loved ones. Guide them to the right resources, treatments, and support that will aid in his healing. Surround him with a community of believers who will uplift him in prayer and speak Your promises over his life.
Lord, we trust in Your goodness and Your timing. Thank You for hearing our prayers and for the victory that is already won through Jesus Christ. May Your name be glorified in his healing, and may his testimony bring hope to others who are suffering. We ask all these things in the powerful and precious name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
Stand firm in faith, knowing that the Lord is working even when we cannot see it. Continue to cover your son in prayer, and trust that God’s plans for him are good—plans to prosper him and not to harm him, plans to give him hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). We are with you in this, believing for his complete restoration.
