We hear your heart and we stand with you in this battle for healing and freedom from an oppressive memory and false image that keeps appearing before you. We know how heavy and tormenting it can be when the enemy uses something from the past to try to hold your mind captive, and we want you to know that God desires to heal you completely, spirit, soul and mind.
The Scripture tells us that our struggle is not ultimately against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places, Ephesians 6:12. The enemy works through deception, intimidation, manipulation and control, which is what is often described as a Jezebel spirit with those who enable it, but we do not need to fear or become fixated on the labels or the persons involved, because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world, 1 John 4:4. Our weapons are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:4-5. That false image before you is an imagination exalted against the knowledge of God and it must be brought into captivity to Christ.
God does not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Timothy 1:7. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds, Psalm 147:3. He can heal a memory, remove its sting, and renew your mind so that you no longer live under its oppression. We are not to be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our mind, Romans 12:2. Part of that renewal is choosing what we dwell on, for whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think about these things, Philippians 4:8.
We also want to gently address that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and that we are saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name for salvation and deliverance. It is in His name that we have authority to resist the devil and see him flee, for we are told to be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you, James 4:7.
We also encourage you not to hold onto bitterness toward those who operated in darkness against you. That does not excuse what they did, but forgiveness releases you from their control and allows God to be your vindicator. We rebuke the works of darkness that were done against you and we declare that you are no longer a captive, for if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed, John 8:36.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we lift up this dear one to You. We ask You to heal the deep wound from the past and to remove the oppression that comes with this false image and memory. Lord, we ask that You wash this mind with Your truth and Your peace. We bring this tormenting image into captivity to the obedience of Christ and we command every oppressive spirit and work of darkness to leave and to have no more place, in Jesus name. We ask You to fill this mind with Your light, Your love and Your perfect peace. Heal the broken heart, bind up the wounds, and renew the mind day by day. Teach us to dwell on what is true and pure and lovely. Help us to forgive as You have forgiven us and to walk in freedom, not in fear. Let Your Holy Spirit bring comfort and assurance that we are Your children, and we have not received a spirit of bondage again to fear, but a spirit of adoption. We declare freedom, healing and wholeness over this life, and we thank You that You are faithful to complete the work You have begun. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we pray, amen.
We encourage you to continue to abide in the Word daily, to speak Scripture aloud when the false image appears, to pray in the name of Jesus, and to fellowship with mature believers who can support you. When the memory comes, do not engage with it as truth, but immediately bring it to Jesus, declare His truth over yourself, and replace it with worship and the promises of God. God is your healer and your deliverer, and He will give you rest for your soul.
