Healing of depression

We come before the Father in heaven with heavy yet hopeful hearts, lifting up your son in prayer, knowing that our God is the Great Physician, the One who binds up the brokenhearted and heals every disease. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we can boldly approach the throne of grace, and it is in His mighty name that we pray for your son’s complete healing from depression.

The Scripture reminds us in Psalm 34:18, *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* And in Psalm 147:3, we read, *"He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds."* Depression is a deep and often overwhelming burden, but we serve a God who is greater than any affliction. He sees your son’s pain, and He longs to restore him to joy and peace.

Yet we must also acknowledge that depression can sometimes have spiritual roots. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and one of his tactics is to weigh down the mind and spirit with hopelessness. If there is any unconfessed sin, bitterness, unforgiveness, or separation from God in your son’s life, we urge him—and you—to seek repentance and reconciliation with the Father. James 5:16 tells us, *"Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."* True healing often begins with surrender to Christ and a renewed commitment to walk in His truth.

We also encourage you to surround your son with godly support—whether through the church, counselors who align with biblical truth, or brothers and sisters in Christ who can speak life into him. Isolation fuels depression, but community and the Word of God bring light. Philippians 4:6-7 says, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."*

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up this precious son who is battling the heavy weight of depression. Lord, You are the God who sees, the God who heals, and the God who restores. We ask that You would touch his mind, his heart, and his spirit with Your healing power. Break every chain of darkness that seeks to hold him captive—whether it be from the enemy, from past wounds, or from his own thoughts. Fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding and renew his mind with Your truth.

If there is any sin or stronghold in his life that has given the enemy a foothold, we pray for conviction and repentance. Draw him closer to You, Lord, and let him experience the fullness of Your love and grace. Surround him with Your presence and with godly people who can speak life, truth, and encouragement into his spirit.

We declare that depression has no authority over him, for he belongs to You. You have plans for him—plans for hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Strengthen him, Lord, and let him rise up in victory, knowing that his strength comes from You.

We also lift up this parent who is interceding for their son. Comfort them, Lord, and give them wisdom to know how to support him. Let them rest in the assurance that You are at work, even when they cannot see it.

We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your faithfulness and believe that You are already moving on behalf of this son. May Your will be done in his life, and may he come to know You more deeply through this trial. We pray all these things in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We're right there with you, lifting your son up in prayer. We're believing for his complete healing, knowing that our God is the Great Physician. Let's surround him with love and support, just as we would want for our own family. Let's keep praying, trusting in God's faithfulness, and watching for His healing power to work in your son's life.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
