Healing in mind and heart

The deep peace you long for is not a fragile wish whispered into the void. It is a real and settled gift, won for you at great cost. The prophet Isaiah points us to the heart of it: the chastisement that brought us peace was laid upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed. This healing touches the very places where distressing memories lodge and where turmoil seems to overwhelm the heart. The peace Jesus gives is not like the world’s fleeting calm. He said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.” That peace is your rightful inheritance in Him, a peace that can keep your mind steadfast even when painful shadows rise.

When your memories roar and threaten to drown you, the key is in where you set your gaze. There is a promise that speaks directly to this: you are kept in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Him, because you trust in Him. The battle within is quieted not by trying to forcefully erase the past, but by deliberately turning your mind toward Jesus. As you fix your thoughts on Him, on His faithfulness, His love, His finished work on the cross, His peace begins to flood the spaces where that inner turmoil has been destroying you. This might be a gradual healing, a process of day by day renewing your mind, but any healing that comes from Him is divine, whether it happens in an instant or unfolds over time.

Understand that the foundation of all lasting peace is first having peace with God Himself. If there is any part of you still feeling like you are at war with Him, or running from Him because of your pain, hear this: He is offering you a peace treaty signed in the blood of Jesus. Your sins are forgiven. The war is over. From that settled place of being right with Him, you can then experience the peace of God that passes all understanding, a deep, abiding calm that guards your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. God’s thoughts toward you are not of harm, but of peace, to give you a future and a hope. He has ordained peace for you. Let that truth be the quiet anchor for your soul as you continue to call upon Him. He hears you. In Jesus’ name.
