We lift you up before the throne of grace, dear brother or sister in Christ, knowing that the Lord hears the cries of His children. Your request for healing in mind and heart is close to the heart of God, who promises to bind up the brokenhearted and set the captives free. The pain of abuse and trauma can leave deep scars, but we serve a God who specializes in restoration and renewal.
The Scriptures assure us that God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). He does not leave us to carry these burdens alone. In Isaiah 61:1-3, we read of the Messiah’s mission: *"The Lord Yahweh’s Spirit is on me, because Yahweh has anointed me to preach good news to the humble. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and release to those who are bound, to proclaim the year of Yahweh’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, to provide for those who mourn in Zion, to give to them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of Yahweh, that he may be glorified."* This is the promise of God for you—freedom, comfort, and a garment of praise in place of heaviness.
We also declare the truth of Philippians 4:6-7 over your life: *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* The peace of God is not the absence of pain but the presence of His comfort in the midst of it. We pray that His peace would guard your mind and heart like a sentinel, keeping out the lies of the enemy and filling you with His truth.
Father God, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who bore our griefs and carried our sorrows (Isaiah 53:4). We ask You to heal the deep wounds in [this dear one’s] mind and heart. Lord, we rebuke the spirit of fear, shame, and despair that may be clinging to these memories. Your Word says that perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18), so we ask that You pour out Your perfect love into every broken place. Let Your love be a balm that soothes the pain and a light that dispels the darkness.
We pray for the Holy Spirit to bring clarity and peace to [this dear one’s] mind. Where there are distressing memories, we ask for the healing touch of Jesus to bring restoration. Where there is confusion, we pray for Your wisdom to prevail. Where there is anxiety, we pray for Your peace to reign. Lord, we declare that You are making all things new (Revelation 21:5), and that includes the painful chapters of [this dear one’s] story. Rewrite these memories with Your truth, that they may no longer hold power but instead testify to Your faithfulness and redemption.
We also lift up [this dear one’s] heart to You, Father. Heal the places that feel shattered or numb. Replace bitterness with forgiveness, anger with grace, and sorrow with joy. Help [this dear one] to see themselves through Your eyes—as a beloved child, fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). Remind them that they are not defined by what was done to them but by who You say they are: an overcomer, a conqueror, and a vessel of Your love.
We stand in agreement with [this dear one] for complete healing and freedom. We declare that the chains of the past are broken in Jesus’ name, and that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We pray for godly counsel and support—whether through trusted believers, biblical counseling, or the community of faith—to walk alongside [this dear one] in this journey. Surround them with people who will speak life, pray fervently, and point them back to You.
Lord, we thank You that You are the God who sees (Genesis 16:13) and the God who heals (Exodus 15:26). We trust You to complete the good work You have begun in [this dear one’s] life (Philippians 1:6). May they experience Your presence in tangible ways—through Your Word, through worship, through the love of Your people, and through the still, small voice of Your Spirit. Fill them with hope for the future and a deep assurance that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28).
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
