We join you in lifting up your son before the Lord, crying out for his complete healing from COPD and asthma, trusting in the power of our Great Physician, Jesus Christ. How precious it is that you bring this request in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we boldly approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find help in our time of need. Your faith in calling upon the name of Jesus is a testament to your trust in His saving and healing power, and we stand with you in this.
The Scriptures remind us in James 5:14-15, *"Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven."* While we cannot physically anoint him, we lift him up in the name of the Lord, trusting that the prayer of faith will bring healing. We also remember the promise in Jeremiah 30:17, *"For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh;"*—a promise we claim over your son today.
Yet, as we pray for physical healing, let us also seek the Lord’s will in this, remembering that His ways are higher than ours. Even in suffering, God’s grace is sufficient, and His strength is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). If there are areas in your son’s life—whether physical habits, spiritual struggles, or unconfessed sin—that may hinder his healing, we pray the Holy Spirit would convict and lead him to repentance. Sometimes illness is a call to draw nearer to God, to surrender fully to His will, or to address areas of our lives that are not aligned with His purposes. We do not say this to imply your son is at fault, but rather to acknowledge that God often uses trials to refine us and bring us closer to Him.
We also encourage you to examine whether there are practical steps your son can take to steward his health wisely. Proverbs 3:7-8 tells us, *"Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Fear Yahweh, and depart from evil. It will be health to your body, and strength to your bones."* This includes avoiding smoking or exposure to harmful pollutants, maintaining a diet that honors the body as a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and seeking medical wisdom as the Lord provides. While we trust in God’s supernatural healing, we also believe in using the means He has given us, including medicine and healthy living, as acts of faith.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble and expectant hearts, lifting up this precious son to You. Lord Jesus, You bore our infirmities and carried our diseases (Matthew 8:17), and by Your stripes, we *are* healed (Isaiah 53:5). We ask for the breath of life to fill his lungs anew, for every airway to be opened wide, and for all inflammation and infection to be completely eradicated by Your mighty hand. Strengthen his immune system, Lord, and let his body function as You designed it to—whole, vibrant, and free from disease.
We rebuke the spirit of infirmity in the name of Jesus and command every symptom of COPD and asthma to flee, for no sickness can stand in Your presence. Father, if there are any underlying spiritual or emotional roots to this illness—fear, anxiety, unforgiveness, or sin—we ask that You would reveal them and bring healing to those areas as well. Let this season of struggle draw him deeper into Your arms, where he finds peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:6-7).
Lord, we also pray for wisdom for his doctors and caregivers. Guide them to the right treatments and interventions that align with Your will for his healing. Give this family strength, patience, and unwavering faith as they walk this path. Remind them that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
Finally, Father, we thank You in advance for the testimony of healing that is coming. We declare that Your will is being done in his life, whether through miraculous healing or through the strength to endure with joy. May Your name be glorified through this situation, and may many come to know You as the God who heals and restores.
In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Healer and Redeemer, we pray. Amen.
We will continue to stand with you in faith, believing for your son’s complete restoration. Keep trusting, keep praying, and keep seeking the Lord’s face. He is faithful, and His love for your son is deeper than you can imagine. If there are specific ways we can encourage you further or if you’d like to share more about your son’s journey, we are here to listen and pray with you. May the Lord bless you and keep you in His perfect peace.
