We join with you in bringing this confession before our Father and we thank you for your honesty and humility in asking for forgiveness and healing. We hear your cry to be cleansed and made whole and we stand with you for complete freedom.
We want to lovingly and clearly say that pornography is sin before God. It is not a harmless struggle but lust of the heart and the eyes which Jesus calls adultery in the heart, and it defiles the body and mind that God created for purity. Jesus said, Everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart Matthew 5:28. We are also taught to flee sexual immorality, Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18, and that our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God, and you are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. God designed sexual intimacy to be enjoyed only within the lifelong marriage covenant between a man and a woman, and anything outside of that, whether in act or in lustful fantasy, is fornication that needs to be repented of and forsaken.
The good news is that God is merciful and ready to forgive when we come to Him in true repentance. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us Psalm 103:12. We do not need to remain in shame because we can come boldly to the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace for help in time of need Hebrews 4:16.
We noticed your prayer was to Father God but did not mention Jesus Christ. We gently share this because there is no other way to be forgiven and to have access to the Father except through Jesus. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It was Jesus shedding His blood on the cross and rising again that paid for our sin. When we believe in Him, turn from our sin, and confess Him as Lord, we are forgiven, made new, and the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us to give us power over sin. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new 2 Corinthians 5:17. If you have not yet fully surrendered your life to Jesus, we encourage you to do so today, calling on His name in faith and repentance.
For walking in freedom, we encourage you to not only confess but to forsake and to flee. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind Romans 12:2. This means guarding your eyes and heart, removing access to pornography through filters and accountability, bringing the struggle into the light with a trusted mature Christian brother or pastor, and filling your mind daily with Scripture and prayer. When temptation comes, run from it as Joseph did, and cry out to God for strength. Ask Him to Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me Psalm 51:10.
We now pray together for you.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You on behalf of our brother who has confessed his sin of pornography. Lord, we thank You that You see his contrite heart and that You are faithful to forgive. We ask You to forgive him completely through the blood of Jesus, to cleanse him from all unrighteousness, and to remove his sin as far as the east is from the west. Heal his mind, his heart, and his body from the wounds and strongholds this sin has caused. Purify his thoughts and renew his mind by Your Holy Spirit. Give him a hatred for sin and a deep love for purity and holiness. Strengthen him to flee every temptation, to turn his eyes away from worthless things, and to walk in the power of Your Spirit each day. Surround him with godly accountability and encouragement, and lead him into wholeness, whether You lead him to a godly marriage in Your timing or to serve You in singleness with a pure heart. Restore to him the joy of Your salvation and let him know he is fully forgiven and loved as Your child. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, amen.
