Healing, forgiveness

We join with you in bringing this confession before our Father and we thank you for your honesty and humility in asking for forgiveness and healing. We hear your cry to be cleansed and made whole and we stand with you for complete freedom.

We want to lovingly and clearly say that pornography is sin before God. It is not a harmless struggle but lust of the heart and the eyes which Jesus calls adultery in the heart, and it defiles the body and mind that God created for purity. Jesus said, Everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart Matthew 5:28. We are also taught to flee sexual immorality, Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body 1 Corinthians 6:18, and that our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God, and you are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. God designed sexual intimacy to be enjoyed only within the lifelong marriage covenant between a man and a woman, and anything outside of that, whether in act or in lustful fantasy, is fornication that needs to be repented of and forsaken.

The good news is that God is merciful and ready to forgive when we come to Him in true repentance. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us Psalm 103:12. We do not need to remain in shame because we can come boldly to the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace for help in time of need Hebrews 4:16.

We noticed your prayer was to Father God but did not mention Jesus Christ. We gently share this because there is no other way to be forgiven and to have access to the Father except through Jesus. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It was Jesus shedding His blood on the cross and rising again that paid for our sin. When we believe in Him, turn from our sin, and confess Him as Lord, we are forgiven, made new, and the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us to give us power over sin. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new 2 Corinthians 5:17. If you have not yet fully surrendered your life to Jesus, we encourage you to do so today, calling on His name in faith and repentance.

For walking in freedom, we encourage you to not only confess but to forsake and to flee. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind Romans 12:2. This means guarding your eyes and heart, removing access to pornography through filters and accountability, bringing the struggle into the light with a trusted mature Christian brother or pastor, and filling your mind daily with Scripture and prayer. When temptation comes, run from it as Joseph did, and cry out to God for strength. Ask Him to Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me Psalm 51:10.

We now pray together for you.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You on behalf of our brother who has confessed his sin of pornography. Lord, we thank You that You see his contrite heart and that You are faithful to forgive. We ask You to forgive him completely through the blood of Jesus, to cleanse him from all unrighteousness, and to remove his sin as far as the east is from the west. Heal his mind, his heart, and his body from the wounds and strongholds this sin has caused. Purify his thoughts and renew his mind by Your Holy Spirit. Give him a hatred for sin and a deep love for purity and holiness. Strengthen him to flee every temptation, to turn his eyes away from worthless things, and to walk in the power of Your Spirit each day. Surround him with godly accountability and encouragement, and lead him into wholeness, whether You lead him to a godly marriage in Your timing or to serve You in singleness with a pure heart. Restore to him the joy of Your salvation and let him know he is fully forgiven and loved as Your child. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, amen.

We are grateful you reached out so honestly. Wanting forgiveness and healing and asking God to take this burden from you is a brave and good step, and we want you to know you are not alone in this struggle.

Many who carry this find that shame makes them want to hide, which only makes the cycle harder. Healing often grows not by trying harder in isolation, but by walking in the light with God and with one trusted person who can walk with you consistently.

A practical next step that has helped many is to invite one safe, mature believer into this with you, a pastor, counselor, or a small confidential Christian support group where honesty and accountability are normal. You do not have to share everything at once, just that you are asking God for freedom from pornography and want someone to check in with you regularly and pray with you. That steady support, along with daily surrender to Christ, is where real change takes root over time.

We are praying for you and we will keep praying.

Father, thank You for hearing this honest cry. We ask for Your forgiveness and Your healing work in this heart and mind. Give strength to turn away, courage to stay accountable, and peace in knowing You are near and at work. Lead step by step toward purity and wholeness. In Jesus' name, amen.

There is forgiveness with God, and there is healing in Christ, and your honest confession has come to the right place for both.

You have not hidden your sin but have brought it into the light, and you do well to tremble and to desire forgiveness with a penitent heart. Pornography is sin against the holy God who made us for purity and who ordained that sexual intimacy should belong only within the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman in marriage. It defiles the mind, hardens the heart, and binds the soul, and it must be repented of and forsaken. Yet the very Word which condemns the sin also proclaims the remedy, for with the Lord there is forgiveness that He may be feared.

Hear then what the gospel says to every repenting and believing sinner. It is a divine forgiveness, for the Lord Himself says, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. Were all men to hiss at you, their forgiveness would not be needed to enter heaven, but His is. It is a surprising forgiveness, so free and so great that it is repeated as if God Himself would have us marvel at it. It is a complete forgiveness, an absolute forgiveness without conditions added to the promise, for to the soul that looks to Jesus Christ alone for salvation the tally is destroyed and the record of debt is nailed to the cross. Do as Luther did when in dark distress, and say with the Creed, I believe in the forgiveness of sins, and believe in that forgiveness for yourself.

And then observe the order of grace, first forgiveness, then healing. So lay there in the presence of Jesus as that poor palsied man did, hoping and expecting both. The same Saviour who says, Thy sins be forgiven thee, also has power to heal the disease that sin has wrought. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. The leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing virtue. These healing leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. He not only forgave at the first all our sins, but He continues daily to forgive, and the forgiveness which He gives for Christ's sake is an eternal forgiveness, for the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. He never plays fast and loose with men.

Therefore come now to Him through Jesus Christ His Son, for there is no other name by which you may be saved. Turn from this sin with purpose of heart, make no provision for the flesh, flee from every occasion and instrument of temptation, bring your mind under the washing of the Word, and walk in the light with honest confession and prayer. If you have been long in bondage, the Lord can bring deliverance even this day, for He delights to save from worse enemies than any earthly foe.

Let us pray together. Father God, forgive this repenting sinner for the sin of pornography, for Jesus sake. Blot out transgression according to Thy lovingkindness, cleanse from secret fault, and speak that blessed sentence of absolute pardon. Heal also the wound that sin has left, purify the imagination, renew the heart, and restore to joy and strength. Keep by Thy grace from returning to this evil, and let Christ be treasured above all counterfeit pleasures, that henceforth life may be lived in chastity and holiness to Thy glory. Amen.
