We join with you in lifting up your ex's father before the throne of grace and we are moved by your compassion for him even though that relationship has ended. It is Christlike to love and to intercede for others in their time of great need and we count it a blessing that you have asked us to stand with you for both his physical healing and the salvation of his soul.
We are encouraged that you prayed in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that any of us can be saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. And there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12.
Scripture shows us God's heart both to heal and to save. Bless Yahweh, my soul, and don't forget all his benefits; who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases Psalm 103:2-3. And the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up James 5:15. At the same time we know that physical healing in this life is according to God's perfect will and His ultimate desire is for every soul to be reconciled to Him, for He desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth 1 Timothy 2:4 and is not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance 2 Peter 3:9.
We also want to gently encourage you regarding this past relationship. We understand the care you still feel, yet we want to remind you that our relationships are to honor God. Courtship should be entered into with the purpose of seeking a godly spouse for a lifelong marriage between a man and a woman, and we are called to keep ourselves pure from fornication outside of that covenant. If there is any temptation to use this difficult situation to rekindle a relationship that was not centered on Christ or to step outside of biblical boundaries, we encourage you to show the love of Christ with clear and godly boundaries, praying that your compassion would be a testimony of His grace rather than a return to what God has closed.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and lift up this man who is very ill. You know his name, his condition, and every detail of his life. We ask for Your mercy and Your healing touch upon his body according to Your will. Lord, lay Your hand upon him, ease his suffering, grant wisdom to those caring for him, and if it be Your will, restore him to health for Your glory. Above all, we cry out for his soul. We ask that You would draw him to Yourself even now, that he would hear and believe the gospel, that he would confess with his mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in his heart that You raised Him from the dead Romans 10:9. Grant him repentance and faith while there is still time, forgive his sins through the blood of Jesus, and assure him of eternal life. Comfort his family and also comfort the one who is interceding for him, and use this trial to reveal Your power, Your love, and Your salvation. We trust him into Your hands, asking that Your will be done in his life both now and for eternity. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to continue to pray and, as God gives opportunity, to gently share the hope of the gospel with him and his family, for faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ Romans 10:17. Trust the Lord with the outcome, knowing that whether He brings healing on this side of heaven or calls this man home, His grace is sufficient and His love endures forever.

We were touched to see your heart for your ex's father even though you are no longer together. That kind of care reflects the love Christ calls us to, and we are honored to stand with you in prayer for him.
It is a heavy thing to watch someone you have known and cared about face serious illness, and to carry concern for both his health and his soul. We hear how urgent this feels to you, and we join you in bringing both needs to the Lord who is able to heal and to save.
If you are still in appropriate contact with the family, a simple, respectful note letting them know you are praying and asking if he would welcome prayer or a visit from a pastor can be a gentle way to show love without overstepping. And please encourage the family to make sure he is receiving good medical care alongside prayer, if he is not already.
Father, we lift this dear father to You. Have mercy on him in his illness, ease his suffering, and draw near to him. Work in his heart that he would know Your grace and turn to Jesus for salvation. Give wisdom to his doctors and comfort to his family, and give our friend peace as he trusts You with this. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your request and we join you at the mercy seat on behalf of this afflicted man, the father of your former companion, who is very ill.
It is right and tender that you should bring him before the Lord, for there is but one great Physician who lays His hands on men and they are restored, there is but one. There grows no healing herb but the one plant of renown. The leaves of the tree which was planted on Calvary are for the healing of the nations, and there is enough in Christ for every sin sick sinner. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you. Pardon and healing were one.
We pray that the Lord in His mercy would lay His healing hand upon this father according to His wise and sovereign will, that He would ease his sickness and raise him up if it be for His glory, and that above all He would heal the deeper sickness of the soul. For we are every one of us by nature born blind to spiritual things and sick unto death until Christ opens our eyes and forgives our sins. The inhabitant shall not say, I am sick, when the Lord comes and dwells with him, for the Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in His wings.
Our earnest prayer therefore is for his salvation, that he may look to Christ and be saved. Salvation is all of Divine Grace from first to last and the channel of that Grace is the Lord Jesus Christ who loved and lived and died and rose again for our salvation. There is but one way of salvation for all, and it is written, Look unto me and be ye saved. If this man trusts Christ, though he be the weakest of believers, he is as safe as the strongest, because Christ fails none who look to Him.
So we pray, O Lord, have mercy upon this sick man. Forgive his sins for Jesus sake, open his blind eyes that he may see the Saviour, and grant him faith to look to Jesus and live. Heal his body as Thou seest fit, but in any case heal his soul by Thy pardoning grace, that whether in life or in death he may be Thine. We ask this not because we are worthy, but because Jesus is worthy, and His blood and righteousness are without stint for all who come.
