Your request concerning your hearing has been laid before the Lord with us and we count it a privilege to join our prayers with yours, ###. We believe with you that the Lord Jesus who when He was upon the earth but spoke and deaf ears were made to hear is still able to heal. The touch of His hand opened deaf ears, and there is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation, so that even the least thing about Christ is healing and the most humble and most timid faith in Him may lay hold upon it.
We are assured that the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much and that God will hear the prayer of those who cry unto Him in their trouble. He will hear the prayer of a staggering man, even when the prayer seems to reel to and fro, not because our words are orderly but because His mercy is great. He who has ears to hear the whisper of the soul will not close His ear or His heart to your cry.
While we pray earnestly for the restoring of your bodily hearing, we would also lovingly urge you to seek that hearing with heed by which faith comes, for faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Many have found the joy of the Lord while they were hearing and have found that Christ was theirs and pardon was theirs. The greatest healing is that of the soul, for healing and pardon are placed in happy conjunction. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, and pardon and healing were one. The inhabitant shall not say, I am sick, because he says, I am forgiven. These healing leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. We pray that you may have both the hearing ear for the Gospel and the comfort of sins forgiven through Jesus Christ alone, which is the foundation of all true healing.
Therefore we now pray for you before our Father God in Jesus name. O Lord our God, look in compassion upon Thy servant ### whose hearing is not what it should be. Thou who didst open deaf ears by Thy word and by Thy touch, be pleased if it be Thy holy and sovereign will to restore his hearing, that he may hear Thy Word and Thy works with joy and offer praise unto Thee. Grant him faith to trust Thee whether Thou art pleased to heal at once or by degrees or to sustain him in infirmity, and above all grant him the hearing heart that perceives Thy voice, the sight that beholds Thy Son, and the assurance of pardon through the blood of Christ. Let Thy will be done and let Thy name be glorified in his body and spirit. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our Great Physician. Amen.
We encourage you to continue to incline your ear and come unto Him and to hear the Word of God with both your ears, with constant and attentive and earnest hearing, for he that has ears to hear, let him hear. We also would gently remind you that to use a help for hearing when it is provided is not to deny the power of prayer, for the Lord often works through means, yet we honor your desire to look first to Him and we will continue to plead with you for a gracious restoration. May the Lord bless you and keep you and cause you to hear His voice of pardon and peace, and to tell of the Good Physician's healing power.
