Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this honest prayer and for beginning with thanksgiving. God does hear our prayers, and He invites us to bring both our bodies and our anxious thoughts to Him.
I am praying with you for healing and for deliverance from anxiety in the name of Jesus. The Scriptures show us that Jesus healed in many different ways. Sometimes He healed instantly with a word or a touch, sometimes He healed gradually, and sometimes He healed at a distance without even being present. He was not confined to one pattern. That reminds us that God still works in diverse ways today.
Part of His healing work is also seen in the natural processes He built into our bodies. The slow recovery, the mending of tissue, the restoring of strength, all of that is still divine, because He is the One who created nature and its processes. Healing is not only physical. He also brings healing to the mind and emotions, lifting burdens of fear and anxiety and healing the wounds and scars we carry inside. Your request for both bodily healing and peace of mind is very much in line with how Jesus cares for the whole person.
Matthew points us to Isaiah chapter 53 verse 4, where it says He has borne our griefs and infirmities, and applies that to Jesus healing the sick. When we remember communion, we remember that His body was broken for us. The Gospels tell us He went about teaching and preaching and healing every sickness and disease among the people, showing His power over the physical realm and His authority over the spiritual realm. He is able to calm troubled bodies and troubled hearts.
At the same time, there is much about healing we do not understand. We do not know why some are healed quickly and others walk a longer and slower road, and why some are not healed in this life as we hope. Even the apostle Paul prayed three times for his thorn in the flesh to be removed, and God did not remove it. To presume that God must heal in every case in the way we expect is not what Scripture teaches. It is also wrong to say that sickness or ongoing anxiety means there is hidden sin in your life or that you lack faith. That kind of accusation is not biblical and only adds burden. Healing is not a measure of spiritual worth, and God does not exploit our weakness.
I do believe God heals today and that He is able. Bring your needs to Him simply and trustingly. It is good to keep asking, to let others pray for you as Scripture encourages the elders to pray for the sick, and to rest in His presence. Sometimes faith is quiet, simply knowing He can do it, and sometimes faith reaches out actively to receive what He gives. In either case, keep your eyes on Jesus Himself, not on a method or a formula.
May the Lord touch your body according to His wisdom and mercy, whether instantly or through a gradual process that He oversees. May He also guard your heart and mind with His peace, which passes understanding, and deliver you from the weight of anxiety. He knows your frame, He knows your struggles, and He is compassionate toward you. Continue to seek Him daily, cast your cares on Him because He cares for you, and trust that whether healing comes quickly or slowly, He is working for your good and for His glory.
Father, I lift up this dear one to You. Thank You for Your blessings and for hearing prayer. Lay Your healing hand upon this body and bring calm to this anxious heart. Let Your peace rule within, and let Your strength be felt day by day. In the name of Jesus, amen.
