Thank you for sharing your honest prayer for healing and for freedom from anxiety. God hears when His children call on Him, and we are joining you in prayer right now.
The Bible gives us a strong foundation for asking Him for physical healing. When Jesus was at Peter's house, great crowds were brought to Him in the evening and He healed many who were sick and oppressed. Matthew tells us this was to fulfill what Isaiah had spoken, that He Himself bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses. Isaiah's prophecy points to what Christ would do on the cross, and Matthew shows that it includes our bodies as well as our souls. That is why when Jesus broke the bread He said this is My body broken for you, we are reminded that His suffering was for our whole need, spiritual and physical. God is still able to heal today, and He heals in many ways. Sometimes it is immediate, sometimes it is gradual, as we see in Scripture where one healing came in stages, and sometimes it is through the natural processes of restoration that God Himself built into our bodies. All true healing is from Him, whether it comes in a moment or through a process over time.
At the same time Scripture helps us keep a balanced trust. Paul prayed three times for the thorn in his flesh to be removed and the Lord did not remove it, but taught him to rest in grace. Not every person is healed in the way and time we ask, and the gifts of healing are given as the Spirit wills, not to everyone in the same way, just as the body has many members with different functions. There is much about healing we do not fully understand, why some are healed and others are not, but we can be sure of God's love, His wisdom, and His power, and we can keep bringing our bodies to Him with confidence that He cares and He is able.
For the anxiety you mentioned, the Psalms give us a helpful picture. David asked his own soul, why are you cast down, why are you so disquieted within me, and then he answered himself, hope in God. Anxiety often grows when we feel trapped by pressures in relationships, finances, health, or spiritual battles, and when God seems left out of the equation the situation feels impossible. The answer is to put Him back into the center of it, to hope in Him again. When we do, we begin to see from His perspective and find steadiness.
There is also a real connection between the health of our inner life and the health of our body. John prayed for Gaius that he would prosper and be in good health even as his soul prospered. That was John's loving wish, not a blanket promise that everyone will always be well, but it shows the link God has made between soul and body. Proverbs says a joyful heart does good like a medicine, and we now know how true that is. Fear and constant strain can harm the body, while peace and hope help it. Part of caring for ourselves is to feed the spiritual life as faithfully as we feed the physical life, through prayer, through the Word, and through quiet trust in Christ, and to let God strengthen us inside even as we ask Him to touch the body.
So we pray for you now. Father, thank You that You hear prayer and that You have shown Your heart through Jesus who bore our sins and our sicknesses. We ask in Jesus' name that You would bring Your healing touch to this body according to Your perfect will, whether quickly or gradually, and that You would grant Your peace to calm this anxious heart. Lift up this dear one, remind them that You are present and in control, help them to hope in You and to rest in Your love, and bring health to both soul and body as You know best. We trust You and thank You for Your mercy. Amen.
