The longing for wisdom and for bodily healing is a good longing, if it springs from a soul that truly seeks after God and not after the praises of men. You ask for a wise heart to be a good steward. This is excellent, but know that true wisdom is not the wisdom of this world, which comes to nothing. The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, full of mercy and good fruits, and it is found only by those who empty themselves of pride and sit at the feet of Scripture. You have quoted the proverb, "Walk with the wise, and you will become wise." Who are the wise? Not those who speak eloquently or know the theories of the philosophers, but those whose hearts are acquainted with the Word of God, whose mouths speak kindness, and whose hands work righteousness. Be diligent, then, to read the Scriptures and to sit in the assembly of the faithful, for there the Spirit speaks. Pray not with vain repetitions, thinking you will be heard for your many words, but with a contrite heart cry out in the secret chamber of your soul, even as Moses, who uttered no sound, yet God said, "Why do you cry to Me?" Such a silent cry pierces the heavens more than a trumpet.

As for your bodily afflictions, the tooth, the eyes, the leg, the lumps, the inward parts, remember that our Lord Jesus Christ is not weak, nor does He need our long prayers as though He were ignorant or unwilling. Did He not say, "I knew that You hear Me always"? He spoke thus, not because He required help, but to teach us that He acts together with the Father. So when you pray for healing, do not imagine that you must persuade Him with a flood of words. Approach Him with faith, and say from the heart, "Lord, if You will, You can make me clean." And if the pain is sharp and you can hardly speak, let your suffering itself be a prayer, like the blood of Abel crying out from the ground. Yet, do not demand healing as though God owed you a debt, but submit to His will, for He knows what medicine the soul needs. Perhaps bodily sickness is permitted that you may learn patience, or that the world may see a living witness of faith. In all this, seek first the healing of the soul, that you may walk worthy of the Lord, increasing in the knowledge of God, bearing fruit in every good work. For what gain is it if the body is whole but the soul is diseased with sin?

Therefore, let your prayer be joined with almsgiving and repentance, for these are the feet and hands of wisdom. Sing psalms in your heart, even when you are in the marketplace or lying on a bed of pain. Give thanks before you see the answer, as Christ did, trusting that the Father hears always. And do not neglect to seek wisdom from those who are truly wise in the faith, that you may become their companion. May you be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that the Word of God may be fulfilled in you, and that, whether in health or in sickness, you may glorify Him in body and spirit.

Your prayer reaches for something deep, and that is good. A longing for a wise and understanding heart is itself a mark of wisdom’s first stirring, because the fear of the Lord is where it all begins. Knowledge fills the mind with facts, but wisdom orders your steps and teaches you how to steward what God places in your hands. Solomon’s example stands before us. When he asked for an understanding heart to govern God’s people and discern between good and evil, the Lord was pleased. He did not ask first for long life or riches. He asked to be equipped for the task. Pursue that same starting place. Bind God’s words upon your heart. Treat wisdom as a close companion, a sister, even a trusted relative. Prefer her guidance above every shiny thing the world can offer, for nothing you could desire can be weighed against her.

You also mention those specific physical needs, from the tooth and eye to the leg, pelvis, and inward parts. The Scriptures show us that healing flows from the Lord, and the promise remains that the Sun of Righteousness rises with healing in His wings. All creation waits for that full and final day, yet even now the touch of Jesus reaches bodies in their distress. The same power that set a fevered woman free to rise and serve, that made the unclean clean by a word, still works. As we pray for your whole body to be restored, remember that the Healer is greater than the healing. Make sure your eye is fixed on Him, not only on the gift. When the gaze of your soul becomes single and fixed upon the Lord, your whole body begins to fill with light. Seek the wisdom of the just, which turns hearts away from mere self-interest and readies a people prepared for the Lord. As you lean into His Word and pour out your soul in prayer, He will increase in you what mere time and effort cannot produce. Let the process shape your heart as much as it mends your flesh.

Walking with the wise reshapes you. That proverb you hold onto is true, for we become like the voices and faces we keep closest. The Lord Himself grew in wisdom and in favor with God and man during those hidden years of quiet obedience. Let that same grace attend your days. Stay teachable. Let His commands be bound before your eyes. The pathway of faithful stewardship, and the path of wholeness in body and soul, both run through the same narrow gate. Press on, and may you find Him faithful in every part of your life.
