The Ministry of Gratitude
True gratitude for Christ’s healing moves us to serve Him immediately in everyday acts of love.
We join you in bringing your need for healing and direction before our Heavenly Father, and we are encouraged that you have come in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace.

We hear your weariness from extended illness and your desire to understand God's will for this season, whether it includes retirement, and we hear your honest plea that God would speak clearly without further suffering. We want to remind you that our God is not a God who delights in afflicting His children to get their attention. While He can use trials to refine us, His normal way of guiding us is gentle and loving and full of mercy.

The Scripture tells us Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases Psalm 103:2-3. And again But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh Jeremiah 30:17. We cling to these promises with you, asking for His healing touch upon your body. We also remember the word in James 5:14-15 Is any among you sick Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. We encourage you to continue to seek both prayer and wise medical care, as God often brings healing through many means.

Regarding direction for retirement, we understand the burden of wondering if this illness is a sign to step away from work. We encourage you not to see every illness as a punishment or a harsh message, but to seek God's clear and peaceful guidance. He promises I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you Psalm 32:8. And Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. God desires to lead you with peace, not with increased suffering. We also remember that for everything there is a season, and His strength is made perfect in our weakness, as He said My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness 2 Corinthians 12:9.

So we pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we lift up our dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask for Your healing hand upon their body. You know every detail of these extended illnesses, every pain and every weary day. We ask that You restore health according to Your mercy and will, and grant relief from suffering. Lord, give wisdom to doctors and give strength and comfort to Your child. We also ask for clear direction. If it is Your will for a season of rest or retirement, make it known clearly and peacefully, through Your Word, through godly counsel, through open and closed doors, and through the quiet witness of Your Holy Spirit, without the need for further affliction. Quiet any fear and anxiety, and let Your peace guard their heart. We thank You that Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and we thank You that we can come boldly because of Him. Help our friend to wait upon You and to trust that You will renew strength, for those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength Isaiah 40:31. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek Him daily in His Word, to seek counsel from mature believers and perhaps your pastor or elders, and to be honest with the Lord as you have been. He hears you, He loves you, and He will direct your paths as you trust Him.

We are holding your request before the Lord with you. Living with extended illness is draining, and it makes sense you are asking both for healing and for clear direction about retirement, especially asking that God would show you without more suffering.

We hear that desire for a gentle, unmistakable leading. When health is fragile, everything can feel urgent and foggy at once, which can make big decisions even harder to sort through.

One thing that has helped others in this place is to separate the medical questions from the vocational questions for a time, while bringing both to God in prayer. We encourage you to stay connected with your medical providers as you seek healing, alongside prayer, so you have clear information about your health and what work requires of you. It can also help to talk through the retirement questions with a trusted pastor and, if possible, a counselor or financial advisor who knows your situation. Simple questions can bring clarity: who you want to be near, what you hope to do with more time, when you sense you might be ready, where you would live, and why retirement feels right or not yet.

Father, we lift our friend to You. Bring healing according to Your will, ease their suffering, and give wisdom for each next step. Grant peace in the waiting and clear, kind direction about work and rest. We ask in Jesus' name. Amen.

We have brought your petition before the Lord with thankfulness for your trust in Him even in prolonged affliction, and we join you in asking for both healing and clear direction.

There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ, and not only His greater works but even what might seem the least thing about Him is full of healing virtue. As it is written, the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and the Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in His wings. When He healed the sick of the palsy He first said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, showing that pardon and healing are in happy conjunction in His hands. Tell your case to Jesus just as you would mention a physical case to a physician, for He is ready to hear it all and to consider it, and there is healing in His touch and in His very presence.

We pray also for wisdom concerning your labor and your rest. The psalmist said, Thou shalt guide me with Thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. That guidance comes not always by a heavy stroke, but by principles infused in the heart, by His Word, by bowing with submission to His will, and by the quiet counsel of His Spirit. Haste often brings mischief, but the Lord is able to make His way plain without multiplying sorrow.

So we ask the Father in Jesus name to lay His healing hand upon your body, to restore strength according to His gracious will, to forgive and to cleanse and to renew, and to grant that the healing virtue of His grace may work health and cure in you. And if it be His will to lead you into a season of retirement, we ask Him to show it to you clearly and gently, not through continued suffering but through settled peace, wise counsel, open and closed doors, and a quiet assurance in your heart that you are guided by Him.

May the Lord give you patience in waiting, faith to hear His Word, and confidence that whether He lifts the affliction or sustains you through it, He is guiding you toward that sure end where He will receive you to glory. We commend you to His tender care and remain in prayer with you. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We are joining you in prayer for healing and for clear direction about the future, and we thank you for sharing this burden so honestly.

We have asked our Heavenly Father to touch your body with healing according to His mercy and power, and to grant you wisdom as you seek to know whether He is leading you toward retirement. Scripture invites us to ask God for wisdom when we lack it, trusting that He gives generously to those who ask in faith, and we are praying that He will make His will plain to you through His Word, through peace in your heart, through wise counsel, and through open and closed doors, and that He will do so with kindness and not through added suffering.

Extended illness is wearying, and it is understandable to wonder what God may be saying through it. The Scriptures teach that God does heal, and they also teach that He can use seasons of suffering for good purposes in our lives. Suffering can keep us humble and teach us not to trust in ourselves but in Him, it can make us partakers with Christ, and it can work grace in us as we endure. One of the early teachers of the church spoke of long suffering as a great strength, saying that a long suffering soul is like a deep water where a spark is quickly quenched and does no harm, and that there is nothing so impenetrable as long suffering. He also reminded us that Christ Himself was made perfect through sufferings, not because He lacked anything, but to show that suffering for the sake of others can bring glory and maturity.

That does not mean every illness is a direct message to take a specific action like retirement, and it does not mean God delights in your pain. He is the Father who rescued His people when they were perishing and who devised our salvation by grace. He is also the Lord who heard the Canaanite woman after her long and persistent pleading and then granted healing to her daughter. Your persistence in prayer, even while weary, is precious to Him.

So we are praying for two things together. First, for your body, that God would restore strength and health if it is His will, and that He would sustain you with grace and comfort while you wait. Second, for direction, that He would give you clarity that is not dependent on more pain, but comes through His gentle leading, through Scripture, prayer, medical wisdom, and the counsel of trusted believers around you.

May the Lord grant you patience in this waiting, confidence that He is at work even in this hard season, and a clear sense of His next steps for you. We continue to lift you before the throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and healer. Amen.
