Silas
Beloved of All
The stomach can carry some of the deepest physical and emotional pain a person ever feels. I think of the times I’ve laughed so hard my belly ached, or the moments of grief that settled right at my core. So when your mother is suffering in that very area, it’s no small thing. You’re carrying her pain with you, and your faith is reaching out for her relief. That kind of love honors her, and it touches the heart of Jesus.
I recall hearing once about a little child who had swallowed something that burned the lining of her stomach. The rawness was so severe that every meal would send her into convulsions of agony, and the doctors could only wait for nature to slowly mend what was broken. But after a moment of divine intervention, she ate peacefully, with no pain at all. The healing was complete and immediate. That same power that mended that little girl’s stomach is not a distant memory, it’s the living authority of Jesus Christ, who bore our sicknesses and carries our sorrows.
He healed in so many different ways. Sometimes He spoke a word and the sickness fled. Other times He touched, or used something as simple as His own spittle on a tongue. With Peter’s mother-in-law, He rebuked the fever and she got up and served. No two miracles followed the same script, but every one of them demonstrated that His power over the body is absolute. So we don’t need to figure out the exact method or demand a certain timeline. We come with the same desperate faith as that mother who wouldn’t leave Jesus alone until her daughter was set free. Your prayer is that kind of persistent trust.
I’ve known what it is to be too sick to move, feeling like there’s nothing left, and then to sense that healing warmth move through my body and jump up ready. God doesn’t always work that way, of course, He sometimes chooses a gradual path, using the restorative processes He built into our bodies in the first place. A healing that comes day by day is still His divine work. Whether the release your mother needs arrives in a sudden rush or a gentle clearing over hours, it is no less His doing.
So keep speaking that faith over her. Command the blockage to open in the name of Jesus Christ, because He has all authority over every cell and every system. His own mother and brothers once stood outside wanting to pull Him away, but He redefined family as those who do the will of God. You are part of that family, and you’re doing exactly that, standing in the will of the One who heals. Trust that He sees her, He knows that deep place of distress, and He is more than able to bring her full, comfortable, healthy function. Let peace rule in your heart as you wait.
