Silas
Beloved of All
Your request for relief from this pain in your chest, a pain you cannot trace or explain, is heard and I bring it before the Lord with you. It is hard to carry a hurt inside your body when you do not know where it comes from, and God understands that heaviness.
Scripture shows us that Jesus cares about physical suffering. He did not use His power to meet His own needs, but He willingly used it to meet the needs of others, healing the sick who were brought to Him, those with diseases and those oppressed in spirit. Matthew, moved by the Holy Spirit, tells us this was to fulfill what Isaiah spoke, that He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. That tells us physical healing is part of what Christ carried for us, not only forgiveness of sin. So we can confidently bring your body to Him and ask for His mercy.
At the same time the Bible keeps us from presuming that healing will always come in the way or the time we expect. We are told that not all have the same gifts and the body has many members, and even the apostle Paul prayed three times for his own thorn and was not healed in the way he asked, because God had a different purpose. There is much about healing we do not fully understand, why some are lifted instantly and others are restored gradually. Only one healing in the ministry of Jesus is recorded as coming gradually, which reminds us that God works both ways. All true healing is from Him, whether it comes in a moment or through the slow, ordered processes He placed within our bodies. The natural healing He built into us is no less divine because it works through nature, for He is the maker of nature itself.
Pain itself belongs to this fallen world. Since sin entered through Adam, our bodies groan and grow weak and know suffering. That does not mean your chest pain is a direct punishment for something you have done. Good people suffer illness and good people are healed, and often the connection is indirect, simply that we live in a corrupted creation that waits for full redemption. The real you is more than your body, you are spirit, and God will one day give a new body free from pain, but He still cares for the body you live in now.
There is also a close connection between the health of your soul and the health of your body. Scripture says a joyful heart is like good medicine, and we now know how deeply worry, fear and sorrow can affect the chest and the heart. God wants to bring healing to the whole person, physical, emotional and spiritual.
So I pray for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus I lift up this pain in the chest that weighs so heavily and has no clear cause. You see it and You know its source. I ask that You would touch and heal, whether in a moment or through the healing processes You have ordained, and through the wisdom of those who can give medical help. Bring freedom where there is constriction, peace where there is fear, and reveal what needs to be addressed. Prosper the soul as well as the body, give a calm and merry heart, and let Your presence guard the heart and mind. Give wisdom to know what steps to take and faith to trust Your loving will. Amen.
Continue to seek the Lord in prayer and in His Word, feed your spiritual life as faithfully as you feed your body, and also seek wise medical counsel so that any physical cause can be found and cared for, trusting that whatever means God uses, the healing is His.
