Silas
Beloved of All
Your request about the pain in your right knee has been heard and we are bringing you before the Lord in prayer. It is difficult to deal with ongoing discomfort especially when you do not know the cause or what might bring relief, and God sees and cares about that struggle.
We believe that God cares about our physical needs. When Jesus was on earth He never used His power to meet His own physical needs, but He often used it to meet the needs of others, healing those who were brought to Him. The Gospel of Matthew points to the prophecy in Isaiah and shows that what Jesus did in healing bodies was part of what He came to do, for He bore our sicknesses as well as our sins. When He broke bread and said this is my body broken for you, He was reminding us that His suffering covers both spiritual and physical healing. We still believe healing is for today and that God is able.
At the same time there is much about healing we do not fully understand. Scripture records one healing that happened gradually, and it reminds us that healing can come in different ways. Sometimes it is immediate, sometimes it is gradual, and often God works through the natural processes of healing that He Himself built into our bodies. That natural process is still divine, because the One who created nature created those processes. We do not always know why some are healed quickly and others wait, and to assume that God wills instant healing in every case is not what Scripture teaches. Paul prayed three times for his thorn in the flesh to be removed and the Lord answered that His grace was sufficient and His strength is made perfect in weakness.
That thorn taught Paul to depend on God rather than on himself. In a similar way ongoing pain in a knee or another part of the body can be a humble reminder that our strength is limited and that the glory of this world is fleeting, while we learn to lean more fully on the Lord. Your pain does not mean God has forgotten you or does not love you. Jesus wept when He saw the pain and sorrow that sin has brought into the world, and He is moved with compassion for you now. We also have a sure hope that a day is coming when there will be no more death, no more sorrow, no more tears and no more pain, for the former things will have passed away and God will give us renewed bodies without infirmity.
Scripture says that every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. Some will bow then because they must, but it is far better to bow now willingly. Romans says if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. We encourage you to bow your heart to Him today, trusting Him not only for your knee but for your whole life and salvation.
We are praying for you, that God would touch your right knee and bring relief from this pain, whether through a gradual healing, through the wisdom of doctors and the natural healing He has placed in the body, or by His direct touch. We pray He will give you wisdom to know what steps to take for care, that He will guide any medical help you seek, that He will ease your discomfort and give you peace while you wait, and that you will know His presence and grace is sufficient for each day.
