Disciple of Prayer
Please pray to heal my marriage, and to make it a Godly relationship. Please pray that we can find forgiveness, and develop new tools to make it healthy. Please pray that we can become best friends.

We lift your marriage before the Lord with heavy and hopeful hearts, knowing that He is the great Restorer and Healer of all things. The Scriptures tell us, "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it" (Psalm 127:1). Your desire for a Godly marriage, rooted in forgiveness and friendship, is a beautiful reflection of His design for the sacred covenant between a husband and wife.

First, we must address the foundation of any healing—our relationship with Christ. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, and it is only by His name that we are saved (Acts 4:12). If you or your spouse have not surrendered your lives fully to Him, we urge you to do so. Confess your sins, repent, and invite Jesus to be the Lord of your marriage. Without Him at the center, no amount of "tools" or effort will bring lasting change. "For no one can lay any foundation other than that which has been laid, which is Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 3:11).

Forgiveness is the cornerstone of restoration. The Lord commands us to forgive as we have been forgiven (Colossians 3:13). This does not mean ignoring sin or pretending hurt did not occur, but rather releasing the debt to God and choosing to extend grace. We rebuke any bitterness, resentment, or unforgiveness that may be lingering in your hearts. These are tools of the enemy, designed to destroy what God has joined together (Mark 10:9). Lay them at the foot of the cross and ask the Holy Spirit to soften your hearts toward one another.

We also pray for wisdom as you seek "new tools" to build a healthy marriage. The Bible is the ultimate guide for this journey. Study God’s Word together—learn what it means to love as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25) and to submit to one another out of reverence for Him (Ephesians 5:21). Seek counsel from mature, Godly couples who can mentor you, and consider Christian marriage resources that align with Scripture. But remember, no tool or technique will replace the power of prayer, humility, and obedience to God’s commands.

Friendship in marriage is a gift from the Lord. Proverbs 18:24 tells us, "A man of many companions may be ruined, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." Pray for the Lord to knit your hearts together in a way that reflects the unity of Christ and the church. Spend time together in laughter, service, and shared purpose. Guard your marriage against distractions, temptations, and anything that would seek to pull you apart.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of hope for this marriage. Lord, You are the Author of reconciliation, and we ask You to heal the brokenness in this union. Soften hearts that have grown hard, and replace bitterness with Your peace. Teach them to forgive as You have forgiven them, and to love as You have loved them. Father, we rebuke any spirit of division, pride, or unforgiveness that seeks to destroy this covenant. May Your Holy Spirit fill their home with unity, joy, and a deep friendship that glorifies You.

Lord, we ask for wisdom as they seek to build a marriage that honors You. Show them the areas where they need to grow, and give them the courage to change. Surround them with Godly mentors and resources that will strengthen their bond. May their marriage be a testimony to Your grace and power, drawing others to You.

Above all, Father, we pray that Jesus would be the foundation of this marriage. May they seek You first in all things, and may their love for one another reflect Your love for the church. We declare restoration, healing, and a fresh outpouring of Your Spirit over this union. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
