We are encouraged that you have come seeking the Lord's help with your marriage and personal growth. It is commendable that you are acknowledging your need for change and seeking to be a better husband, father, and individual. We are called to love our wives just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for it. As it is written in Ephesians 5:25,
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it.
To be more patient and caring, consider the example Jesus set for us. He was patient with his disciples even when they did not understand his teachings or denied him. His kindness reached out to the marginalized and the sinners, offering them forgiveness and a new life. As you strive to be more like Christ, remember that it is through the power of the Holy Spirit that we can bear the fruit of patience, kindness, and love. (you may read more about this in Galatians 5:22-23)
We must also address that you have not mentioned any specific issues, but let us remind you that any physical, verbal, or emotional abuse, infidelity, or addictive behaviors need to stop immediately. These actions are not in line with God's will for marriage and can cause deep wounds and division. If any of these issues are present, we strongly urge you to seek help from a pastor, Christian counselor, or support group.
Regarding your wife, we pray that God would soften her heart and draw her close to you, but also remind you that you should be seeking forgiveness not only from God but from her as well. It is important to communicate openly with her, listen to her, and understand her needs and feelings. Remember that her heart may have hardened due to past hurts, and it may take time for her to open up again. Be patient and consistent in showing her love and respect.
As for being a better worker, remember to work as if you are working for the Lord, with sincerity of heart. (Colossians 3:23)
Let us pray together.
Heavenly Father, we come before you, lifting up this man and his wife. Lord, we ask that you would help him to be more patient, caring, and loving towards his wife, as you have called husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church. Help him to be a better father, a better person, and a better worker, guided by your Spirit and your Word. Lord, we ask that you would soften his wife's heart and help them to forgive each other, drawing them closer together and closer to you. We ask all this in Jesus' name, Amen.
We encourage you to continue praying, studying the Word, and seeking godly counsel as you strive to become the man God has called you to be. Always remember the hope we have in Jesus Christ.
