Having a rough night

I’m shooken up from what I think may of been a trail that I failed…. I have ### and I was sick in ### and ### that I may of been unfaithful to the Lord… it was a hard trial and now I am worried I am no longer his and tonight I’m laying in bed sick again hearing voices hoping it doesn’t happen again and I can’t quit vaping still it seems impossible on my ### I feel so so exhausted with my trials with much fear and confusion

We hear your distress and the weight of conviction pressing upon your heart tonight. The fear of having failed a trial, the sickness in body and spirit, and the struggle with temptation, especially in areas that may have led you away from faithfulness to the Lord, are heavy burdens indeed. Let us first assure you that the Lord’s mercy is not exhausted, nor is His love conditional upon our perfection. Scripture tells us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). The voices you hear in the darkness are not from the One who calls you His own; they are the whispers of the enemy seeking to isolate and condemn you. But we declare over you tonight: there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1).

Your struggle with vaping and the exhaustion of trials are not signs of God’s abandonment, but opportunities to draw nearer to Him in dependence. The apostle Paul spoke of a "thorn in the flesh" that kept him humble, and the Lord’s response was not removal but sufficiency: "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9). Your weakness is not a barrier to His strength, it is the very place where His power can rest upon you. The fear and confusion you feel are not from God, for "God is not a God of confusion, but of peace" (1 Corinthians 14:33). We rebuke the spirit of fear in Jesus’ name and command it to flee from you. You are not alone in this battle.

Now, let us address the matter of unfaithfulness. If this trial involved sexual sin, whether through lust, fornication, or any other immorality, we must call it what it is, not to shame you, but to lead you to repentance and restoration. The Bible is clear: "Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body" (1 Corinthians 6:18). But take heart, for the same passage reminds us that "you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s" (1 Corinthians 6:20). Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and the Lord desires to cleanse and restore it. Confess this sin to Him, turn away from it, and trust in His forgiveness. Do not let shame keep you from His presence, for He is waiting to embrace you.

As for the voices you hear, we urge you to test them against Scripture. The enemy often masquerades as an "angel of light" (2 Corinthians 11:14), but his goal is to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Fill your mind with the truth of God’s Word. Speak aloud the promises of Scripture, such as "The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 27:1). Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7). We also encourage you to seek fellowship with other believers who can pray with you and hold you accountable, for "two are better than one... for if they fall, one will lift up his fellow" (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10).

Your struggle with vaping is not trivial, for it represents a battle for self-control, a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). The Lord does not call you to overcome this in your own strength, but through His power. Pray for deliverance, seek godly counsel, and consider practical steps to break this habit, such as replacing it with Scripture meditation or prayer. Remember, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13).

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother, lifting up his heart and his struggles to You. Lord, we thank You that Your mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23), and we ask that You would pour out Your grace upon him tonight. Forgive him for any areas where he has strayed, and cleanse him from all unrighteousness. We rebuke the spirit of fear and confusion in the name of Jesus and command it to leave him. Fill him with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus.

Lord, we ask for Your healing touch upon his body. Strengthen him where he is weak, and give him the grace to overcome the temptation of vaping. Break the chains of addiction, and replace this habit with a hunger for Your Word and Your presence. Surround him with godly believers who can encourage and support him, and give him wisdom to seek help where needed.

Father, we declare that he is Your child, bought with the precious blood of Jesus. Remind him of Your unfailing love, and do not let him be separated from You by shame or guilt. Restore to him the joy of Your salvation (Psalm 51:12), and renew a steadfast spirit within him. May he rise from this trial stronger in faith and more dependent on You.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer and for Your faithfulness to answer. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Take heart, dear one. The night may feel long, but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5). You are not defined by your failures, but by the One who has already overcome them on your behalf. Cling to Him, and let His love cast out all fear.

We're so sorry this night has been so heavy for you. When your body is worn down, your mind feels scattered, and your own thoughts seem to shout accusations at you, it's nearly impossible to feel any kind of spiritual steadiness. That doesn't mean you're lost. It means you're human, you're exhausted, and you're listening to your fears rather than to the quiet, stubborn faithfulness of Jesus.

Right now, the most practical thing you can do is simply let the night pass. You don't have to solve your spiritual state while you're physically sick and overwhelmed. If sleep won't come, just rest your body and refuse to chase every fear that surfaces. The voices and the shaking you're experiencing are real and unsettling. If you haven't already, we'd gently encourage you to mention the voices to a doctor, not because you're broken or crazy, but because sometimes our bodies and brains need medical support, and there's no shame in that.

As for the vaping, of course it feels impossible when you're already spent. Don't try to tackle it by sheer willpower tonight. When you're feeling a bit steadier, pick one small, tangible change for the next 24 hours, maybe delaying the first vape by an hour or swapping one instance for a short walk. Small, doable steps build courage over time.

Let's pray.

Jesus, this night feels hard and lonely, and our friend is worn down in body and soul. Meet them in this exhaustion. Quiet the chaos in their mind and remind them, deep down, that nothing can snatch them from you. Give them rest, steady their fears, and hold them close. Grant them wisdom and courage for the next small step toward freedom. In your name alone, amen.

The trial you have endured has left you shaken, and the fear that you have been unfaithful now gnaws at your soul. Yet it is this very fear that may serve you, if it drives you to Christ. The fear that Noah knew was not the dread of a slave before the lash, but a holy awe that moved him to prepare the ark. He feared God with a loyal reverence, and he feared himself with a humble distrust. That fear made him build in brave defiance of the scoffing world, for he knew that none could save him but God. So do not despise your fear if it makes you flee from yourself to the only refuge. Servile fear would keep you at a distance; godly fear draws you near with trembling hope.

You are saying in your heart, “I fear I am no longer His.” This is a common assault, the fear lest we be deceived. But what says the Scripture? “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth.” The way of salvation is not a maze of feelings, but a single look. Four letters, and two of them alike, so simple that a child may understand it, and so instantaneous that the soul may pass from death to life in a moment. Do not cling to your own examination of your state; cast that burden upon the Lord. Salvation is of the Lord, from beginning to end. It was not devised by human intellect, nor does it depend upon your faithfulness, but upon His grace. If you wait until you feel worthy, you will never come. Your very exhaustion in the struggle is the proof that you cannot overcome by your own strength. The impossibility you feel in quitting the vice that entangles you, that is the voice that cries, “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord.”

You lie in bed sick and hearing voices, afraid the trial will return. That is the hour for simple trust. When fear is most distressing, then you are driven to this: “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.” You cannot silence the clamor within or without, but you may look to Jesus. He was made flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth. That grace is for such as you, unclean, helpless, trembling. Receive it as a free gift. Do not think to dress yourself in garments of outward reformation first. Salvation is all of grace, else the very depravity of your nature would shut you up in despair. But no, where sin abounded, grace doth much more abound. The plan was formed in eternity, and your recent failure does not surprise the unchanging God.

That fear that you have fallen beyond recovery, remember that forgiveness is the very root of true fear. “There is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.” When the soul knows itself pardoned, it bows in loving awe. Not the terror of the jailer, but the reverence of a child. Has the Lord been your help in times past? Then He will not leave you now. David, hunted in the wilderness by his own son, could yet sing, “Thou hast been my help.” Experience breeds expectation, and expectation matures into assurance. You are not cast off because you quiver; the bruised reed He will not break.

Cease from your own battling as though salvation rested on your grip. It rests on His hold of you. The hearing of faith is this: hear the word that says, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Those voices of accusation, those whispers of despair, they are not from the Lord. He speaks peace to His people. If you have looked to Jesus, you are His. And if you have not yet so looked, then look now. At this very moment, lift the eye of your heart to the Crucified One and say, “For me, O Christ, for me!” That look will bring instant salvation and the beginning of a holy fear that will be your safeguard.

You are exhausted with trials, but the Lord is faithful. He will not suffer you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape. My brother, my sister, cast yourself upon free mercy. The simple, the sublime, the all-sufficient salvation is this: “Look unto me, and be ye saved.” And then, from that look, shall spring a life of victory, not by your own resolutions, but by the indwelling of His Spirit who sanctifies wholly. Fear not that you shall perish; He that began a good work in you will perform it until the day of Christ. Peace be to you in the storm; in the ark of His pierced side you are safe.

Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul.
