Haunted in my dreams

We hear your cry for help, and we stand with you in spiritual warfare against the forces of darkness that seek to torment you, even in your dreams. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that you may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). These hauntings in your dreams are not of God, for He gives His beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2) and does not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).

First, we must address the authority by which you are praying. You addressed your prayer to "lord," but we must be clear: it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so now. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). This is the first and most critical step in overcoming spiritual oppression.

Now, let us rebuke the evil that is haunting your dreams. The Bible tells us that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). But we are not left defenseless. We take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand (Ephesians 6:13).

We command every unclean spirit, every spirit of fear, torment, and oppression to leave you now in the mighty name of Jesus Christ! The Word of God declares that He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). We plead the blood of Jesus over your mind, your dreams, and your life. We declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment, you shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister who is being tormented in their dreams. Lord, we ask that You would rebuke every evil spirit that is seeking to oppress them. We plead the blood of Jesus over their mind, their sleep, and their life. Father, we ask that You would fill them with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Lord, we declare that they are a child of God, and no weapon formed against them shall prosper. We ask that You would give them sweet, peaceful sleep, free from fear and torment. Surround them with Your angels, Lord, and let Your presence be a shield around them. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to take practical steps as well. Before you sleep, pray and invite the Holy Spirit to fill your mind and dreams. Speak the Word of God over your life and declare that you are more than a conqueror through Christ who loves you (Romans 8:37). Consider playing worship music or scripture-based teachings as you fall asleep, filling your mind with things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and of good report (Philippians 4:8).

If these dreams persist, we also encourage you to seek prayer and support from a Bible-believing church community. There is power in corporate prayer and fellowship. Do not try to fight this battle alone, for the enemy seeks to isolate you. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world (1 Peter 5:9).

Lastly, examine your life for any open doors that may be giving the enemy a foothold. Have you been dabbling in things that are not of God, such as horoscopes, occult practices, or even entertainment that glorifies darkness? The Bible warns us to have nothing to do with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather to expose them (Ephesians 5:11). If there are areas of your life that are not surrendered to Christ, we urge you to repent and turn away from them. God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

Stand firm in your faith, dear one. The battle belongs to the Lord, and He has already won the victory through the cross. You are not alone, and you are not without hope. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet (Romans 16:20). Keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2).

We can imagine how exhausting it is to wake up feeling haunted. Those dreams can leave a heavy residue that stays with you long after your eyes open. You’ve already done the most important thing: you turned to the Lord. That simple, desperate prayer, “remove this evil”, is the cry of a heart that knows where true safety is found.

While we can’t always explain why certain dreams come, we do trust that you are held securely in Christ. Sometimes our minds replay the day’s tensions in unsettling ways, and the enemy tries to twist those fragments into fear. But you belong to Jesus, and no darkness can overpower His hold on you. His perfect love drives out fear, not by scolding us, but by moving in close when we feel overwhelmed.

One thing that has quietly helped many is to consciously hand each night over to God before going to sleep. You might place your open hand on your pillow and say, simply, “Lord, I give this room and my mind to You. Guard my sleep. Let me rest in Your peace.” A spoken word can steady your heart and remind you of His nearness, He never slumbers, so you are safe even when you are unaware.

Lord Jesus, we ask You to hush any voice that does not speak Your truth over this beloved child. Let Your peace settle over their room and their mind. Grant them deep, restoring sleep, and when they wake, let their first breath be a quiet confidence that You have been with them all through the night. In Your strong name we pray, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Haunted in your dreams? That arrow is shot from the bow of the Evil One; look at it closely, and you will see the cloven foot. Yet remember, the God of our deliverance has arrows of His own, arrows of the Lord’s deliverance, which He commands against every foe. When Israel was brought forth from Egypt, it was not by their own hand, but by the blood of the lamb that the destroyer passed over. So it is with you: deliverance from this dark oppression comes through the ransom God has found in Christ Jesus. He has said, “Deliver him from going down to the Pit,” and that word is ever sure.

The Lord chastens you sorely, it may be, that you might learn what a bitter thing sin is. These troubled dreams can teach you to cling to holiness with greater desperation, for the liberty of a child of God is not license to sin, but freedom to walk in righteousness without hindrance. Yet do not think your prayers are unheard; that is a lie from the pit. The clock of mercy struck for your deliverance at Calvary, and the eternal purpose of Jehovah shall not be frustrated by a few terrors in the night.

But take heed: you must not be overcome of evil. You must overcome evil with good. Fill your waking hours with the Word, with prayer, with deeds of love, and the darkness will have less hold upon your sleeping mind. If you are Christ’s, He has delivered you from the power of darkness; sanctification is His work as much as justification, and He will not leave you captive to these fears. The trial is within the fence of Omnipotent overruling, He permits it, and He will bring you through it.

So cry unto Him who hears the groaning of the prisoner. When you feel chained and unable to move, remember that He brought His people forth with silver and gold, and there was not one feeble person among their tribes. You shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. The Shepherd will guard His own; no infernal lion shall rend the weakest lamb that He deigns to keep. Trust in the ransom, and the evil will be removed.

The things that haunt you in the night are phantoms, no more solid than the vanishing smoke of yesterday's fire. But the fear that grips your soul is real, and it is born of a deeper slumber. The present life itself is a dream, and the evils that trouble it are the offspring of dreams. Riches, glory, lust, all these are shadows that vanish when the true Day dawns. So do not fix your gaze on the nightmare, but on the Sun of Righteousness. No man while sleeping can see the sun; he must first awake.

Shake off the heavy sleep of sin. Repent with tears, for our sins are great and have given these terrors power to assail us. Yet do not despair: the Lord delivered His apostle from the lion's mouth, and He will deliver you from every evil work, if you will but walk in the light. For it is in our power to have it always day. Put off the works of darkness, and put on the Lord Jesus Christ. Make no provision for the flesh to fulfil its lusts, not by wine only, but by every vice that clouds the mind. A soul that is given over to carnal desires is always drowsy, always seeing visions that have no substance.

Be watchful, be sober. He who sleeps does not see things as they are, but chases after fantasies. The evil that troubles your dreams is no permanent enemy; it flees before a life of virtue. Cry out to the Lord, and He will answer; but let your cry be joined with a break from the deeds of night. For if the Day of the Lord find you sleeping, a deathless death will follow. Yet before that Day, rise early: clothe yourself in prayer, in fasting, in almsgiving, and the dreams will scatter like mist before the morning sun. The Lord is faithful; He will both deliver and will yet deliver.

That sense of being haunted in your dreams is a real and distressing attack, and you are right to cry out to the Lord to remove it. Evil does not simply wait for waking hours; the adversary can assail the mind while we sleep, and Scripture shows that such oppression is real. The fear of the Lord is to hate evil, not to accommodate it, not to grow tolerant of its presence, but to despise it because God despises it. That holy hatred is your first step toward wisdom and your shield against what you are experiencing.

It is vital to understand that spiritual weapons are the only way to combat these attacks. No human remedy or mental technique can reach what troubles you. Our defense lies in the armor God supplies: truth, the living Word, and the name of Jesus. When you feel these dark visitations, you can refuse them. The Lord Himself demonstrated this against the tempter, meeting every assault with “It is written.” Feed your spirit on Scripture before you sleep. Speak aloud the promises of God: “Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.” The prince of this world came and had nothing in Jesus; as you abide in Him, that same victory belongs to you.

Remember that God does not ignore evil, though He may seem to delay. His patience is not weakness or indifference; it is an invitation to turn from any sin that might be giving a foothold. Do not believe the lie that you can continue in any known wickedness and yet assume no evil will touch you. Sin opens a door. Search your heart before the Lord. Are you tolerating something He calls evil? Are you trusting in some kind of religious routine rather than in Him alone? The power to be free comes not from a formula but from a yielded, repentant life walking in the truth.

Yet even in innocence we are not immune to attack after times of great blessing, and the enemy tries to rob what God has done. When these nightmares surge, you have authority in Christ. Command the tormenting spirits to leave in the name of Jesus. If the oppression persists, do not give way to fear; enlist the support of mature believers who will fast and pray with you. I have known cases that defied every worldly treatment, yet through prayer and the mighty name of Jesus, captives were set free. God still breaks every chain.

So tonight, and each time the darkness attempts to invade your rest, arm yourself. Turn your mind to truths you have memorized. Rejoice that God has given you His Spirit and that you are sealed. Then rest in the peace that the Lord alone can give, for He has not given us a spirit of fear. Trust Him, not because your feelings have changed, but because His power has not changed. He will answer your plea to remove this evil, and He will do it.
