We hear the weight of what you have carried for many years and we grieve with you over this long season of harassment. We thank God that He has already been opening your eyes to the root of unforgiveness and to the reality of the spiritual battle you are in, and we want to stand with you in prayer for complete freedom and peace in Christ.
What you describe is very real. Scripture tells us our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. When you were involved in the new age you opened doors to those forces, for those practices are an abomination to the Lord Deuteronomy 18:10-12 and give place to the devil Ephesians 4:27. We praise God that He has delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love Colossians 1:13, and that greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4. That deliverance is only through Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12 and Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. We notice your request spoke of God but did not mention Jesus, and we gently urge you to call upon His name specifically, for it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and authority over the enemy. If you have not already, confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved Romans 10:9, and continue to submit every area of your life to Him.
We want to speak carefully about unforgiveness and making peace. God was right to show you that unforgiveness keeps a foothold for harassment. For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don't forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses Matthew 6:14-15. We are commanded to let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:31-32. Forgiveness is a decision of obedience before God to release the debt, and it is required whether the other person ever repents or not.
Reconciliation, however, is different from forgiveness. Scripture says If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men Romans 12:18. That means we are to pursue peace, but it also acknowledges that peace is not always possible, especially when the other person is unsaved, deceived by false teachings, or still under demonic influence and not walking in repentance. Your theory that you must rebuild personal relationships with every person who harassed you in order to stop the demons is not what Scripture teaches. The demons are not cast out by human reconciliation, they are resisted by submission to God. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you James 4:7. The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds 2 Corinthians 10:4. You can and must forgive in your heart, and you can obey Matthew 5:23-24 to make an appropriate attempt at peace where it is wise and safe, but you are not required to force closeness or trust with people who show no fruit of repentance or who only want to manage public perception. Trust is rebuilt over time and requires truth. It is also wise that you feel nerve wracked and concerned, for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7, and He calls us to be sober and self-controlled, for your adversary the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Withstand him steadfast in your faith 1 Peter 5:8-9.
We also hear your concern that others in your life are pressuring you to make peace and seem blind or under a spell. We would encourage you not to be driven by pressure from people, even well meaning people, but to be led by the Holy Spirit with counsel from godly leadership. You mentioned your pastor and elders and we strongly encourage you to bring this to them in person, to confess and renounce every new age practice specifically, to remove any objects or teachings from that time, and to ask them to pray over you for deliverance and protection and to help you discern which relationships to pursue and which need healthy boundaries. Do not try to counsel or deliver those who are harassing you on your own, but keep your eyes on Christ and let your leaders help you test the spirits 1 John 4:1.
We are praying with you now.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we lift up this dear one to You. We thank You that You have revealed the trap of unforgiveness and the reality of the enemy's schemes. We ask You to give a deep and complete work of forgiveness in the heart, not by feeling but by obedience, and to heal every wound where harm was done on both sides. We renounce on behalf of this life every involvement with the new age and every agreement with darkness, and we declare that by the blood of Jesus that door is now closed. We resist the devil in Jesus name and command every harassing spirit to leave and to go where Jesus sends it, and we ask You to fill every place with Your Holy Spirit, Your peace, and Your light. We put on the full armor of God and ask for the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the feet fitted with the Good News of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit which is Your Word Ephesians 6:10-18. Give wisdom to know how to pursue peace as far as it depends on this dear one, and also wisdom to set boundaries where reconciliation is not possible or safe. Give discernment to not be swayed by pressure from others, but to follow Your voice. Give this dear one a trusted pastor and elders who understand spiritual warfare and who will walk closely, pray continually, and speak truth. Let no weapon formed against this life prosper and let Your perfect love cast out all fear. Establish this dear one in the assurance that You who began a good work will perfect it, and that he who is in Christ is a new creation, fully forgiven, fully protected, and more than a conqueror through Him who loved us. We ask all of this in the mighty and only saving name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
We encourage you to stay daily in the Word, in prayer in Jesus name, in fellowship with your church, and to walk in ongoing repentance and obedience. Keep forgiving as Christ forgave you Colossians 3:13, keep resisting the enemy, and keep seeking wise counsel. God is your refuge and strength, and He will bring you into freedom and rest as you continue to submit to Him.
