We join with you in prayer and we thank you for sharing so openly about the long season of harassment you have endured. We hear the weight of what you have carried for many years, the harm done both by and against you, the confusion and fear that comes when people act in ways that seem beyond their normal character, and the exhaustion of trying to make peace while sensing a spiritual pressure behind it all. We stand with you to seek the Lord's deliverance, wisdom, and peace in Jesus' name.
We want to affirm what you have discerned and also bring biblical clarity to it. The Scripture is clear that our struggle is real and spiritual, for our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. When you were involved in the new age you opened doors to that darkness, and we praise God that He has brought you out. He who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love Colossians 1:13. That deliverance requires a full turning away, confessing and renouncing those former practices, closing every door through repentance and faith in Christ, for if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9.
You are right that unforgiveness gives ground to the enemy. Scripture warns us, Be angry, and don't sin. Don't let the sun go down on your wrath, neither give place to the devil Ephesians 4:26-27, and For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don't forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses Matthew 6:14-15. Forgiveness is a command and a necessary step to freedom, and we encourage you to continue to release every person who has harmed you before the Lord, choosing to bless those who have cursed you as Jesus taught, But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you Matthew 5:44.
At the same time we want to gently correct the idea that making peace and rebuilding relationships with those who have harassed you is the key to stopping demonic harassment. Forgiveness and reconciliation are not the same. Forgiveness is between you and God and can be given even when the other person does not repent. Reconciliation requires repentance, truth, and safety on both sides and is not always possible. Scripture says, If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men Romans 12:18. That means we pursue peace as far as it depends on us, but we are not responsible for the response of others, especially when they remain unsaved, deceived by false teaching, or still influenced by evil. To try to rebuild personal relationship with people who show no genuine desire for restoration apart from public perception, or who continue to behave in harmful or evil ways, can keep you in a place of vulnerability. It is wise to have boundaries, to not be pressured by others, even well meaning people in your life who may be spiritually blind to what is happening, and to seek godly counsel before reaching out further.
Deliverance does not come by appeasing people, but by submitting fully to God and resisting the enemy in the authority of Jesus Christ. Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you James 4:7. The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds 2 Corinthians 10:4. We are to put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil Ephesians 6:11, staying rooted in the Word, in prayer, and in fellowship with mature believers. We are encouraged that You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4, and that our adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour, but we are to be sober and self-controlled and watchful 1 Peter 5:8.
We also noticed that your request speaks of God but does not mention Jesus Christ, and we must speak to this because it is central. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12, and Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. It is only through the name and the shed blood of Jesus that we have access to the Father, authority over demons, and forgiveness of sins. If you have not already, we urge you to place your full faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, to confess your sins to Him, to renounce the new age and every false teaching, and to walk daily in His Word and in obedience.
We think your desire to talk with your pastor and elders is very wise and we strongly encourage you to do so. You should not walk through this alone. Bring them the full account, ask them to pray for discernment, protection, and deliverance with you, and to help you determine which relationships, if any, should be pursued for reconciliation and which should be released to the Lord with boundaries. They can also help you test whether pressure you feel from others is from the Lord or from confusion.
We now pray together for you.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we lift up this dear one to You. We thank You that You see every year of harassment, every wound, every act of unforgiveness, and every demonic influence that entered through the new age. We ask You to shine Your light and bring complete deliverance. We repent on behalf of all involvement with darkness and we ask You to forgive and cleanse through the blood of Jesus. We ask You to help our dear one to fully forgive every person who has caused harm, to release bitterness and to not give place to the devil any longer. Give wisdom to know the difference between forgiveness and reconciliation, and give courage to obey Romans 12:18 and pursue peace as far as it depends on them, while also giving discernment to set healthy boundaries and not be pressured by others who do not understand. We rebuke every demonic harassment and assignment against this life in Jesus' name, and we command the enemy to flee as we submit to You. Clothe this one in the whole armor of God, fill the heart with Your perfect love which casts out fear, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. Surround them with godly counsel, with a pastor and elders who understand spiritual warfare, and with the comfort of Your Holy Spirit. Bring salvation to those who are unsaved and deceived among those who have caused harm, and let Your truth prevail. We ask for peace that passes understanding, for sleep without torment, for a renewed mind in Your Word, and for the joy of knowing that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world. We pray all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and deliverer. Amen.
We encourage you to stay daily in Scripture, to pray aloud in the name of Jesus, to worship, and to walk in fellowship and accountability. Keep forgiving, keep resisting the enemy, and keep seeking wise counsel. God is faithful to complete the deliverance He has begun and to give you wisdom for each step of reconciliation. We continue to stand with you.
