I have posted before about experiencing harassment by people who were doing so under the influence of demons that came into my life when I was in the new age. Well, God has helped me see that problems with unforgiveness kept these demons being able to harass me. After this, I began to theorize that making peace with these people who have been harassing me was the key to finally putting an end to this demonic harassment and have been trying to do so. For certain reasons, I'm struggling a bit with this right now and even doubting whether I should really try to reconcile with these people in the first place. Please pray for me about this. We have heard your heart and we thank you for sharing so honestly about the harassment you have been enduring and the spiritual battle behind it. We rejoice that God has been opening your eyes to the role of unforgiveness, for that is a real foothold the enemy will use, and we want to stand with you in prayer for wisdom, protection, and complete freedom in Christ.
We want to gently address that you came into this harassment through involvement in the new age, which is not harmless spirituality but a door to demonic influence. Scripture is clear that we are to turn away from such things and turn to God alone. As it is written, Let no one be found among you who practices divination, or soothsaying, or augury, or sorcery Deuteronomy 18:10, and They sacrificed to demons, not God Deuteronomy 32:17. The good news is that when we confess and forsake that former way, God forgives and cleanses us, and Jesus has triumphed over those powers, having stripped the principalities and the powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it Colossians 2:15, and He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to specifically renounce in prayer every new age practice, object, and teaching you were involved with, and to ask the Lord to close every door that was opened.
You are right that unforgiveness can keep that door open. Scripture warns us, Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, and don’t give place to the devil Ephesians 4:26-27, and Forgive each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:32. Jesus also taught, For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses Matthew 6:14-15. Forgiveness from the heart is commanded and is for your freedom, whether the other person ever repents or not.
Yet we want to help you see an important distinction that may be the source of your struggle and doubt. Forgiveness and reconciliation are not the same. Forgiveness is a release you give before God, between you and Him. Reconciliation requires repentance and safety on both sides. We are told, If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men Romans 12:18. Notice the words if it is possible and as much as it is up to you. That shows that peace and reconciliation are not always possible, especially when people continue in harassment or remain under demonic influence and show no repentance. We are also told that our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. Your true enemy is not those people, but the spirits influencing them, and trying to make peace with unrepentant harassers in your own strength will not in itself cast out demons.
The Lord does call us to love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you Matthew 5:44, and we can and should pray for those who have harassed you and bless them from a distance before God. But love does not always mean pursuing close contact or reconciliation, especially when it would expose you to further harm or harassment. Sometimes the most biblical and loving thing is to forgive fully in your heart, to pray for their salvation, and to maintain godly boundaries while you walk in victory. Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you James 4:7, and Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Withstand him steadfast in your faith 1 Peter 5:8-9.
We also noticed you spoke of God helping you but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and authority over the enemy. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, and calling on His name, that we are saved and that we can command every demonic influence to leave. If you have not yet fully entrusted your life to Jesus as Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today, to confess your sin and your need for Him, and to receive His forgiveness and indwelling presence.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear one to Your throne of grace. We thank You that You have been revealing truth and leading toward forgiveness and freedom. We ask You to help them to fully forgive from the heart every person who has harassed them, just as You in Christ have forgiven us, and to release all bitterness and wrath. We ask You to close every door that was opened through the new age, and we renounce that darkness now in Jesus’ name. We plead the blood of Jesus over this life, over their mind, body, home, and sleep, and we command every harassing and tormenting spirit to leave and to go where Jesus sends it, never to return. Fill every place once occupied by darkness with Your Holy Spirit, Your peace, and Your Word. Grant wisdom, Lord, about reconciliation. Show clearly whether to pursue peace face to face or to forgive and pray from a distance with healthy boundaries. If it is not possible to be at peace with those who continue to harass, give freedom from false guilt and give discernment to seek counsel from mature, Bible believing pastors. Put on them the whole armor of God, that they may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil Ephesians 6:11, and teach them to stand firm, to pray without ceasing, and to walk in the victory You have already won. Help them to love and pray for their enemies without putting themselves back under harm, and to trust that You are their defender and deliverer. We ask this in the mighty and only saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.
We encourage you to stay daily in the Word, in prayer in Jesus’ name, and in fellowship with a solid Bible believing church where you can receive personal prayer and accountability. Keep forgiving as often as the memory or pain returns, keep resisting the enemy by submitting to God, and trust that the Lord will be your protection. If harassment continues or escalates to threats to your safety, please also seek wise pastoral and, if needed, practical help to maintain boundaries. We are continuing to pray that God will give you clear wisdom, for If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him James 1:5, and that you will know the peace that comes from being fully forgiven and fully surrendered to Jesus.

Reconciliation is rebuilding trust together, which needs safety and willingness on both sides. It is possible to forgive someone fully while still keeping wise boundaries if contact would be harmful or confusing.

Your account has been read with deep care and with prayer before the Lord who hears the cries of His people. You speak of a former entanglement with the new age, of harassment that has followed you, and of the light God has given you to see that unforgiveness has given place to the enemy. You also speak of a desire to make peace with those who have harassed you, and of a present struggle and doubt as to whether reconciliation is right. For all this we will carry you to the throne of grace.
Let this truth first settle your heart, that there is forgiveness with God. The Scripture does not say there may be forgiveness, or that it must be searched for as a doubtful thing, but there is forgiveness. It is a divine forgiveness, I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions. Were all men to hiss at you and withhold their pardon, you would not need their forgiveness to enter heaven, for the pardon that matters is His. It is a surprising forgiveness, so great that God speaks as though surprised at its own freeness, and it is a complete forgiveness. He does not forgive a part and leave a part upon the book. He blots out the handwriting. He not only forgave us at the first, but He continues daily to forgive, for the act of forgiveness is a continuous one, and it is an eternal forgiveness for Christ's sake. If you tremble and shake for fear and with a penitent heart desire forgiveness, however sinful your life may have been until now, there is forgiveness with God even for you, through Jesus Christ His Son, the Just for the unjust that He might bring us to God. He has found a ransom. The Lamb has been slain, and deliverance is solely by the power of God. He brought them forth, not they themselves. It is not of him that wills nor of him that runs, but of God that showeth mercy.
Because you have received such manifest forgiveness, so much outward sin forgiven, the Lord calls you to that joint stock business of mutual forgiveness, forgiving one another even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. This is not a light matter. The remembrance of your own deliverance out of bondage is to make you merciful. To forgive as you have been forgiven is to open your hand as God has opened His to you, to release the debt and to leave vengeance with Him who judges righteously. This forgiveness in the heart is your duty and your liberty, and it will not be a single act but a daily grace as you walk with Him.
Yet forgiveness in the heart and reconciliation with those who have done you harm are not always the same thing. The Scripture says, if it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. You are to be willing to be at peace, to wish no ill, to pray for those who have despitefully used you, and to be ready to be reconciled if repentance and safety allow. Deborah sang of deliverance from earthly oppressors, but we have a richer theme, deliverance from sin and Satan by the blood of the Ransom. Cry to Him who alone can bring you forth with silver and gold, with enrichment and not merely escape. He who delivered Israel when the lamb was slain can make your deliverance effectual.
